Music Clubs Fuse With violins tuned and reeds in place, the Seton orchestra responded to Dr. Vin- cent Orlando's baton to begin the program for Open House, November 10, during American Education Week. March Mag- nijicent fMcConnellJ and the Star Span- gled Banner fKeyJ were chosen for their patriotic theme. During the year the major appearances of the orchestra were at an assembly to honor St. Cecilia, November 23, and at the Spring Concert, May 6, presented by the entire music department. In the for- mer, Anchors Aweigh fMilesJ and Cuckoo Waltz Uonassonj were included, The orchestra added to its repertoire for the Spring Concert Highlights of Okla- homa fAndersonJ and Waltz of the Flow- ers CTschaikowskyJ. The Seton orchestra contributed musical Skill in Concerts introductions and intermissions for dra- matic productions. Spirit of Youth from the Sordillo Overture and Stan Thornton's Tenderness were included for these per- formances. Orchestra rehearsals during construction year were frequently in competition with other Seton music, Sometimes building machinery notes sounded suddenly through open windowsg at other times while the orchestra played behind the stage curtain, game calls from the gym floor would punctuate the strains of a waltz or march. The auditorium section of New Seton will be a music paradise for teacher and student. Special practice rooms reserved for the use of students are included in the blueprints. The auditorium itself is de- signed with an orchestra pit. Dr. Vincent A. Orlando, director
