HEADS REVEREND THOMAS W. CUNNINGHAM, A.M. Fordham University THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH The Department of English provides an ade- quate background in writing skill and literary ap- preciation, and offers special courses for those desiring further work in literature. Seton Hal! is one of the few institutions of higher learning which requires American Literature of its English majors; offering, in addition, courses dealing with every period of English Literature. Fr. Cunningham has added courses in creative writing, supplying the students interested in this field with the practical application of the methods used in the literary world. A Senior thesis is now a prerequisite for graduation. REVEREND THOMAS J. GILLHOOLY, A.M. Columbia University DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATION ARTS The Department of Communication Arts guides the student toward future specialization in the fields of radio, television, journalism, and the theater. The department is unusually well equipped, having a modern theater and radio station as appropriate classrooms and laboratories for the training of students. Courses include Radio Dramatics, Stage Design, Radio Writing, Broadcasting, and kindred studies. Although the present curriculum is broad and varied, Fr. Gillhooly is planning an even more extensive program of instruction to include all phases of Communication Arts.
