W is-,, ' i N A---ff in-. Mx ' 's A A HICKEN-POPS, wheezles, vomickin', and bronickel asthma be- came necessary parts of our vocabulary as we entered the world of the little people . Exposure to the patient and his problems through an anxious mother, made us appreciate and sympa- thize vvith the pediatrician and his practice. The wards on the fifth and sixth floors of the medical building were the scene of what were perhaps our best exposure to teaching rounds . Drs. Stevenson, Davis, Behrle, and Zangara were adept in making the cases presented interesting and informative. It was Dr. Kushnick, however, who embodied what we considered to be the prototype of the academic man, who, along with his discussion, could quote chapter and verse from the textbooks as well as three or four references from the recent literature. Here was nroundsman- shipv truly personified. Although the teaching was the highpoint of the rotation, there was also an opportunity to learn many unique skills on pediatrics- how to sink a 6 and 6 in the buttock of a screaming child, how to collect urine on an eight month old infant, and how to carry a URI for six Weeks. Two weeks of our senior year were spent at the Hague--seen by most as a welcome vacation from the hustle of the Medical Cenf ter, and by all as a chance to consider the healthy newborn, ponder the need for places like T otowa, and try to clear up our colds. 1 4 f I X Dr. Franklin C.
