Mi? ,tg , ' elf .f ' 'L'1Z'll: AHF. END of the week found us transcending man to mole- cule or ring around the Krebs cycle . Mornings began with a lecture in which we saw a progression of professors unfold the mysteries of the cell. Most notable were Dr. Click and the origin of the feces , the drama of carbohydrate me- tabolism by Dr. Garner, and the spiral of Watson and Crick a la Dr. Bill Burke. The lecture really never started until Mary Cahill appeared, traditionally ten minutes late. This custom was not the only bright spot she provided however, for a spectacular lab fire of her making added warmth to what would have been a dull session with Dr. Battley and Acetyl-CoA. Proteins were the realm of Dr. Katherine Lewis, a woman deserving of the title of our class mother. This was illustrated perhaps best by her gentle hand with the Bunsen burner, and directions to Professor,' Willie Butler, as Denny Corbett finally achieved success on his twentieth Kjeldahl. Another distinction was bestowed in Biochemistry-this to Pat Carolan fwith a close second place to Gary Romanj for production above and beyond the call of duty in the battle of The Little Brown Iugv. Actually, we did not mind lugging our cider jugs through the streets and onto the subway as much as We disliked the odor of their con- tents boiling happily away in an Erlenmeyer flask. The year finally closed with examinations designed to make us appreciate the summer months ahead. Ralph Oricello popped his last balloon, and Ioe Molnar continued his search for an apartment, as we broke for the beaches, tennis courts, and golf links. A few of us stayed on in the name of research, and more than a few dreamed ahead of our first look at disease. 1 PM -.,- 1, . , lf-fs . wi., , 6 , .
