Speech class, taught by Priscilla Hall, was offered first semester. In this class, students were allowed to compete in local contests in which some were awarded fortheir abilities to speak. Second semester, students from the speech class transferred to the drama class, which was taught by Kathy Turner. Not only was this stalt re- sponsible for the yearbook, they also produced a monthly news- paper entitled The Mirror. One dit- terence of this year's newspaper was its appearance. Musical Mergers Serrano's musical program consist of very hard working and talented students. Mr. Graydon Toms with the assistance of Mrs. Sylvia Stewart is the leader of this combined effort. The marching band with the drill and flag teams have worked together and created entertaining routines that were performed at football halftimes. They also participated in several competitions, and have the trophies and awards to prove the quality of their performance. Their goal was to execute difficult songs and formations while remaining in synch. Drill and flag were re- sponsible for making up routines to the music that band played. Concert band consisted of sev- eral of the same people who were in Marching band. They held two concerts, Winter and Spring, where they performed for students, parents, and relatives.
