Julie Nelson, Cathy Forth, Sharon Glover, Sheila Tomlin, Connie Hoxsey The audiences seeing the Junior Play soon realized that a name can be 'fdeadlyf' The name in question was Ernest. Thereis nothing startling or even unusual about the name-except to one Henry Gilcrest. You see, just the name Ernest sends Henry into shock. It all started when Henry's boss fired him and his girl friend threw him overboard and Aunt Ethel ordered him from her boarding house because of no rent money. Well, poor homeless, girl-less and jobless Henry, spending the night in a ark, meets one, Mr. Bumpus. He pours out his trougles to Mr. Bumpus, who tells him life has dealt him a miserable blow and he has a friend named Ernest who, for only Sl7.83, gets poor downtrodden souls like Henry out of their misery. So Henry, in his pitiful, forlorn condition, gags the money, goes back home and finds Clj Aunt t el is ready to orlgive him, Q1 his girl wants another chance, f3j is boss has given him a raise, Q45 life was never happier and better and MBOING-he remembers he's paid his last cent to someone named Ernest to get him out of the world. Needless to say, heis really in misery now, especiall when virtually everyone he encounters is named Ellnest. There's Margieis beau, Ernie. fMargie is Aunt Ethel's daughter. Ernie hails from Texas, and Henry just knows he s a gun-slinger. Then there's old maid Ernestine whois writing a murder rn stery. Henriy hears her discussing it with her sister, Carissa, and t inks they're lotting his demise. Then there's C.E. Grimm, head ofpthe Grimm Harvester Company, and maker of the very famous Grimm Reaper. Henry misconstrues the facts and thinks he is the grim rea er and he's come after him. Well, a doctor is cafled for Henry. And his name? You guessed . . . Dr. Ernest. As fate would have it, Mr. Bum us and a friend came looking for a room and when Henry sees them, well that really puts the icing on the cake. Things now reach a fever pitch, because poor Henry-weak from fright-finally goes to Mr. Bumpus and demands payment in full, imme- diately, so heill be out of his dismal misery, And imagine Mr. Bumpus consternation. You see, he never planned on seeing Henry again, thinking the deal would be just a simple way to get some money. So now he has to carry out his part of the bargain. So the- Everyone enjoyed and laughed at every single character in this play. It was a job well done by the cast, crew, and director. J 44 .- Q r ,, 'T ,,,, 5 y K! ZW' ,, 956435, Sag me-S1 www 3345.
