They posted a deceiving 6- 8-2 record. The team averaged only one year experience per man. Due to this inexperience, the varsity lost 3 close games in overtime and tied two others. Burl Leslie was voted team captain and Paul Pitstick was voted M.V,P. Leonard Nitiss was high scorer with 12 goals. Coach Swank is looking forward to next year since most of the varsity and all the J.V.'s will be returning. The I.V.'s did well this year posting a fine 7-3-2 record. Thirteen differ- ent players scored, which is very unusual. ..- ... as Q FRONT ROW: Wayne Kellogg, Kevin Salzer, jon McLennan, Keith Castrejon, Alan Kellogg, Kevin Bernard, 2nd ROW: Coach John Swank, Scott Walsh, Brad Warren, Mark Green, Phil Jameson, Randy Smith, IonAagesen, Mgr, BACK ROW: Scott Tirevold, Rick Salzer, Leonard Nitiss, Kim Foreman, Rich Thomp- son, Greg Marshall. ,fl 5 Kick it, Doug! ! Coach Nancy Zurbuch attributes the teams' success to a well balanced offense and defense. Our offensive unit had far superior dribbling and shooting skills than any of the oppo- nents and our defense, led by our halfbacks, was by far the strongest in the conference and allowed very few shots to be taken on our own goal. We very simply had the skill, the desire and the determination it takes to be a Conference Champion. Fullback Pat Connolly was elected by her teammates to be team captain and most valuable player. Elected to the Little Ten All Conference Teams were: Sue Stecher and Jennifer Robinson - lst Team, Joy Grunstad - 2nd Team, Cindy Stegman and Pat Connolly - Honorable Mention. ik 1523 GIRLS' SOCCER 9 Joyce, do you use Ivory Liquid or Lemon Fresh Joy?
