FFA Mr, Thompson, Adv.g Rick Battles, Rep,g Dave Hall, Vice-Pres,5 Mark Wright, PreS.g Mickey Pfau, Sec.g Kent Wiley, Treas,g Gary Morel, Sent, To begin the year 1970-71, the FFA officers took a trip to the annual FFA Convention at Kansas City, Chapter projects this year included a visit to the International Livestock Show, the annual Purebred Boar and Gilt Sale, co-sponsoring the Sweetheart Ball, the annual Parent-Son Ban- quet, and participation in many Section VII contests, The Serena chapter received first place in the sectional Program of Work contest, and the Livestock judging Team re- ceived a first in the section. The Dairy judging Team rated superior with jerry I-Iuss being highest scoring individual. Mark Wright placed third in the Public Speaking Contest, was Sectional Star Farmer, and applied for the State Farmer Award, Mary Stetcher was honored by being chosen as the Section VII Sweetheart Queen. F.H.A. Serena's active FHA began the year in August with a picnic for Fresh- men at the Sheridan Pit, To carry out the 1970-71 theme, Decisions That Count, new and old members participated in the worthwhile pro- grams presented at the monthly meet- ings, Special activities included the FHA-FFA Skating Party, a Senior Citizen Tea and a Parent Potluck. Food was sent to the boys in Viet Nam as a service project. ln Decem- ber, the seventy members prepared numerous articles for the Christmas Bazaar, The spring was brightened by the colorful outfits constructed and modeled by the FHA members, Finally the year ended with a picnic for prospective members, The sophomore and junior girls stop to pose during their busy baking day D6Cl.Sl'0l7S That Count I4 junior and senior girls stir up a storm!
