Dedication For three years, you heard an intense, slen- der man say, c'Whatever you are, Sequoyah isa' and knew that for you this had a special significance. For three years, you heard, HNeXt year . . . 'l and ulVlayhe in the spring . . . and hoped that things would he hetter. Tomor- row. For three years, you were the leaders, thrust into your roles without examples, With- out preparation. Efforts, accidents, experi- ments hecame traditions. Despite every obstacle, you have given free- ly of yourselves to lay the foundation, to es- tablish potential greatness. For whatever Se- quoyah is or will he, we dedicate this 1967 Phoenix to you, our first senior class.

A year is filled with so many, many things. Of themselves they are very little, but, taken together, the smallest details made this year our own. The things that made this year our own are largely the things we did in putting together this book. If you looki at one picture or read one headline and laugh or cry in remember-' ing that moment, our moments of com- plete frustration, panic, disappointment, and just plain fun vhave been worthwhile. There are so many people to thank -our wonderful sponsors, Mrs. Thompson and Miss Payne, Mr. Ed Jones of Taylor Publishing, surely the most patient and cheerful man in the world, Mr. Edward B. McCloskey, a fine photographer and friend, Mr. Wright, our sponsor in spiritg Mrs. Goff, Mrs. Prescott, Coach Shell, and Coach Nowell for their infinite patience with our hare-brained shenanigans . . . we could go on forever. But most of all we thank you, all of you who are Se- quoyah, for being the most fascinating subject matter we could possibly have had. J.,,o,LagF Byrd QED-Hwmc. i QYTBO
