Dr. Mr. Wetzel Board of T rustees Bewley, Curriculum Coordinator Mr. Shelby Bewley holds one of the most important posts in the new high school system. As curriculum coordinator he is expected “to lead in the revisions of old methods and to assist in the development of new ones” so that the curriculum will best serve the needs of all students. Another of Mr. Bcwlcy’s jobs is to further cooperation between the elementary and secondary schools of Missoula County. To carry out his responsibilities Mr. Bewley must study text books, listen to teacher evaluation, and consider the benefits students will gain from their courses. The class of 1965 is the last class to leave MCHS in Missoula as a single unit. This event marks the closing of an era and the beginning of another, for next year MCHS will be not one, but three complete four-year high schools —Sentinel, Hellgate, and Seeley-Swan. As carried on the seal of the United States of America, our motto might also be “E Plur-ibus Unum,” as we move into this new phase of high school education in Missoula County, for although we are now three, we retain a single goal—excellence. Careful planning preceded the division and the transition has been accomplished with gain, not loss. The increase in enrollment which has made this division necessary has provided us with the means to add programs and opportunities for our students, to interest and hold an ever-wider range of abilities. Missoula County High School has had much to be proud of in the past. It should have three times as much to be proud of in the future. With our dedicated, highly qualified faculty and an able and hard-working student body at all three schools, MCHS faces the future with high hopes and great enthusiasm. —Dr. W. W. Wetzel 12
