Too much television may change you from an irresistible force to an immovable object. Don't be afraid to be different. Many people have been . . . Lincoln, Einstein, Beethoven and Jesus Christ, for example. In education, as in everything else, we cannot do today's job with yesterday's tools and be in business tomorrow. Principal and Board of Trustees One of the last educational efforts of our late President, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, was to initiate a campaign to bring back into the classroom all those students who had dropped out of school. In a letter to the Missoula County High School Board of Trustees, President Kennedy stated, “At the White House meeting it was urged that a massive, nationwide effort be undertaken this summer to persuade our young people to return to school in September . . . Equal opportunity for education and for employment is a phrase without meaning unless the individual is prepared to take advantage of it. Young people and adults alike who have been disadvantaged need special programs in both general and vocational education if they are to be ready for further formal education or for employment.” It was his intense desire that every youth of the United States receive an education to the limit of his capabilities. May you recognize the wishes of this dedicated leader and remain in school and work to capacity until you have completed your education, pledge yourselves to the support of our free public education, and resolve that your children will avail themselves of the full opportunities offered them. W. W. Wetzel
