I I I D. H. BEARY Prizzcipnf The Chinese have an ancient proverb that there are five points to the compass: north, east, south, and west, and fifth, the point where we are. I am inclined to believe with the Chinese, that the fifth point is the most important of the five, for unless you know where you are, it does not do quite enough good to know your directions. Too, where a person might be makes a certain difference in what is the right course to take. In a free society an individual is given every oppor- tunity to determine his location and use its social agen- cies to chart his course. Since no one knows the future, then the individuals direction should not he governed by the environment from without, but should depend on what is within.
