FALL OFFICERS SPRING OFFICERS The Green and Whites main purpose is to have united student leadership working with the faculty and community for the betterment of the school. lt is composed of outstanding senior boys who have shown leadership and school spirit in various activities in Senn. One of the purposes of the Green and White is to promote good racial relations in Senn by keeping alert for any sign of intolerance. The sponsor of the Green and White is Mrs. Eleanor Keats who aids the boys in keeping the club cutstanding. The management of Senn Hall during the three lunch periods is probably the best known of the club's activities. This consists of playing records, super- vision of dancing on the stage and preservation of good order. The club also stops gambling and smoking on school grounds through the work of the Morale Committee. Anyone caught by a Green and White boy doing the above is given a summons to the Green and White court where his case is tried. 92 l l I l I l Z The Green and White, through various committees, performs many other valuable duties for the school. The Freshman Welcoming Committee dis- tributes maps and sees that Freshmen become acquainted with the routine of the schoolg the Correspondence Committee sends a monthly bulletin to the Green and White Alumni telling of club and school activitiesg the Assembly Committee produces a show worthy of the club and of the students who see itg the Transportation Committee betters transportation facilities to and from Senng the Magazine Committee collects old magazines to be sent to Naval Reserve Hospitalsg the Grand jury Committee investigates all potential candi- dates for the Green and White Clubg the School Spirit Committee, a newly formed committee, tries to build up school spirit at athletic eventsg the Stage Committee helps with the setting up of the stage for the various assemblies giveng and the Record Committee selects and buys dance records which are played in Senn Hall during lunch periods. This years assembly was based on the different activities at Senng the R.O.T.C., the football team, and the Players. The introductory assembly pre- sented to the Freshmen and Sophomores gave a preview of the work of the various Green and White Committees. Senn's-a-Poppin, assembly was tops as usual, followed by Crazy Hat Day Dance. The sole purpose of Green and White assemblies is to provide entertainment and make the student more familiar with Green and White members. The above and many other tasks are undertaken by the Green and White, but only through student and faculty cooperation can the members carry these duties out successfully. 93 icerfi FALL SEMEST Tom Nelson ' ER log Zclcclman Bob Czlllawuy , ,, . Ihcrc is somcthing about working for a play-an experi- ence that cannot be duplicated for any sum of money. No Player is concerned with the size of the part he or she is given when it comes to considering the good of the show. All individual gain is set aside, and everyone combines his best efforts for a successful production, The spirit they put into the business of giving the play is wonderful. As in a march, everyone works busily together harmoniously and in precision, even to the smallest part, to form a theatrical master- piece. Although there seems to be chaos coming from l2l, nevertheless, it is organized, for there would be no Players without such organization. This year, Players has continued serving the school and community in the Sabbatical absence of its founder, Miss Melita Skillen. To take her place, a former Player, Robin M. League, returned to Senn to head the Drama Department. Besides, the traditional teas, Players gave two one-act plays - The Porboiler and the Rehearsal under his direction. ln the line of three-act plays came Our Hearts Were Young and Gay in February, and Stardust in May. The majority of the spring semester was spent in the production of the lat- ter. We shall always remember the Mad Russian director, who really had a heart after all, the affected students, a sar- castic but understanding Claire, and all the rest. Yes, Players will always be grateful for having been given the invaluable experience of participating in a real show. 99 'IXMW era 5' lt's the night of the play, everything is in readiness for the last minute details which are being attended to by the workers. Pete Mowery dashes out for some confetti which is needed for the second act. Members of the makeup committee are putting last minute touches on the players. With only a few minutes before the curtain rises, confusion is every- where. Melody Bannister, president of the workers, is trying to organ- ize the activities of the group. You recall during the fall semester, Bob Schaefer had the same job. The cast is assembled on the stage ready for last minute instruc- tion from our director Mr. Robin M. League. The house lights dim and the curtain rises on the first act of Stardust by XV alter Kerr. You sit listening to the play until the final curtain descends. The applause from the audience rings out assuring you that the play has been a success. The excitement is over!
