Stacy Moore asks Krisy Pay, Can you find Carla's pulse? . . . helps keep the doctor away, or so they say. However, there are plenty of future doctors and nurses running around in health occupations. The students learn the basics such as making hospital beds, sponge baths, taking blood pres- sure, and reading thermometers. Then, they go beyond the basics and learn CPR. They practice the recessitation on the CPR dum- mies. The students also learn the Latin prefixes, suffixes, and root words for the medical terms that they need to know. Health occupations is certainly a worthwhile course, even if you are not planning to go into medi- cine. The class gives you skills that are worth alot no matter what profession you choose. , 'ip fi-M Carla Prince groans in mock agony as Krisy Pay and Stacy Moore take her bloodpressure. How Many Languages Do You Speak? f 1 1. Mrs. Malitz assists several students with their Spanish. Seneca Valley's Foreign lan- guage department has, two parts to it, ESOL lEnglish for Speakers of Other Languagesl and regular for- iegn languages. ESOL is for non-English speak- ing students. They learn the lan- guage as well as the culture. This year ESOL represented nine dif- ferent languages. The other foriegn language classes are elective courses in which students learn the language and the culture of the various na- tions that speak the language they are studying. At the end of the year several select students travel to different countries to learn more about their culture and cus- toms. I. 2.
