11 The Members of SADD First row: Michelle james, Michelle Shook, Shelley Barnes, Tracy Lutz. Second row: Mrs. Burkey, Tracy Durkin, Shelly Ridder, Dale lackson, Laura Rerden, Amy Caplan, Sharon Vargo, Georgia Sullivan, Sheila Spangler. The SADD Fight To Save Lives The message is clear-do not drink and drive. Those words are heard all over the country on TV, the radio, and on bumper stickers, largely due to groups such as SADD-Students Against Drunk Driving. The organization was in its formative stage last year, but became active this year. The group was formed as a response to need. A need for Americans, especially teenage drivers, to know the real consequences of driv- ing while intoxicated. SADD, which is open to all students and eager for new members, has ten active members, twenty altogether. The group brings information to stu- dents through posters in the halls and shocking PA announcements. They also help in trying to pass legislation for stricter laws and longer sentences for those convicted of drunk driving. Presi- dent Sema Blackman and sponsor Mrs. Burkey feel that many deaths due to drunk driving last year are proof that something needs to be done. SADD agrees and is trying to eliminate such tragedies nationwide, and to prevent them from taking the life of any one at Seneca Valley. - SADD E . 4 NNY af YK Q Q? st f 9 X? f .,...a 1 S ,Q V 9, 'f , Z ff, ENC so Hein ' me .V it VRLLEU D D ix it ii ii UH li? , . llihlli -K -- . , Ill ' K if Lv ,A I J G Vi Mix.
