IRGTC . . . ot just a Course The Naval junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, first offered at Seneca in 1982, teaches students some of the skills they need to become military offi- cers, such as marching, following direct commands, and drilling with Spring- field rifles. ' The Color Guard performs at all home football and basketball games during the year. The Drill Team per- forms at several drill meets a year, the biggest taking place at Norfolk. Also this year, there was a Seneca Valley Invi- tational Drill Meet where our school was the overall winner. Naval Science Instructor Commander Wiest and Assistant Instructor Mr. Hutchinson gladly announced that stu- dents have had success with the course. For instance, IEns.JBrian Rowland has been offered an Army.ROTC scholor- ship at Penn. State U. ILt.Cdr.J Wallace Banach and IEns.I M. Peachek have been nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy. And also, ILt.J P. Dlllon and IEns.l R. Green attended the Leadership Academy. 'II The NIROTC Color Guard proudly holds the flag during The Star-Spangled Ban- ner before the start of the Homecoming game. 23 Commander Wiest lectures to his class on the importance of responsibility and - Q , ,.., leadership in becoming a part of ThE 31 The members of the NIROTC stand still and at attention. I., I, 57, , 'll Practice makes perfect in the Chamber Chorale. To ether In Perfect Harmon TR any During second period, floating voices could be heard, evidence that the Chamber Chorale was at work again. This year, the 27 member choir re- hearsed daily for the Christmas and Spring Concerts, and took short trips to perform at Community groups. The Chamber Chorale presented classical works as well as arrangements of mod- ern songs. Directed by Mr. Scott, this group has the motivation to sing any- where. Members include: Susie Booher, Dawn Cannon, Caroline Cash, Nancy Cuff, Susie Engle, Susan Fazaker- ly, lody Fields, julie Hemming, Heather Midgely, Krissy Parker, Diane Pickle, Beth and Renee Rabben, Susan Rudick, Anne Schindler, julie Semenuk, Caryn Stern, Paige Zielinski, Mike Brady, Rick Brown, Richard Emer, Ken Grundy, Ken Harley, Skeets Kelley, Pete Botting, David Mitchell, Richard Parker, and Carlos Robinson. 23 The Chamber Chorale members make beautiful music together. 3l Susan Fazakerly and Dawn Cannon add their voice to the Chorale.
