The highlight of the season was beating Gaithersburg in the last game of the season, knocking them out of first place. Said Coach Barnhart, lt was a rough season. The record was not indicative of how hard these kids work. They were really a great bunch of kids. The team cap- tains were Ernita Frazier, Krista Fischer, and Laura Smith. The two Most Valuable Player's were Laura Smith, a senior, and Beth Abbott, a junior. T Girls Softball

After starting out the season with seven straight victories, including a thrilling 20-'I7 win over the previ- ously unbeaten Wheaton team, the Screaming Eagles only won four of their next nine games to finish the regular season with 'I1 wins and 5 losses. This was good enough to pro- pell them into the playoffs where they once again defeated the num- ber one seated Wheaton before los- ing to Churchill in the second round. Baseball f, my were seniors Andy Malloy 1460 avg, league leading 7 home runsl, Dan Di- vision C450 avg. 2.2 e.r.a.l, Paul Hay- duk l400 avgl, Joe Moyer i315 avgl, Mark Schultz i375 avgl and Brent Prather C350 avgl. The under class- men who contributed and will be counted heavily on next year were Dennis Reighard, lim Signora, Steve Prokop, Doug Novak, Eric Rosen, and Tom McAleavey. All in all a great season for Mr. Long and the boys.

The Spring Track team had an up and down season, After losing and gaining members, the track team fi- nally settled down in mid-season. The core of the team consisted of the distance crew lead by team lead- ers Paige Pawlak and Warren Aron- son. The field event crew coached by Mr. Dormo surprised everyone with their new found talents Ben Thomp- son, Roslyn Benson, and jon Stevenson. The small sprinting team was kept alive by hurdler Sean jackson. Head coaches Mr. Robertson and Mr. Sa- muda are proud of all the runners. They both agree the dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm made the team excel at the end of the season. The boys finished with a record of 3 wins and 2 losses and the girls ended up with one win and 4 losses. Spring Track Excels Spring Track
