New Principal Dr. Richard ' fi. Dumais Seneca Valley High School is indeed the Pride of the Valley. I came to Seneca Valley in mid-March to what I was told was a great school. That statement has proved itself to be absolutely true in all possible aspects, great staff, students and community. After attending and participating in the annual musical, WOC banquet, performing arts ban- quet, various sports events, sports ban- quets, the awards assembly and culminating with the graduation of the Class of 1985, I feel that I am indeed fortunate to be assigned to this school. I look forward to assisting in its future development as a superior MCPS high school in all aspects of high school life, academic, athletic and extracurricular. 'I Dr. Richard A. Aruba and the Bahamas were suggested in order to break the tradition of going to Daytona Beach. Yet when thought about and discussed, Daytona won hands down. The Seniors and their chaperones left Easter Sunday evening to begin the 18 hour bus ride South. Due to many unexpected stops along the way, the entire trip took about 20 to 22 hours. Once in Daytona the seniors amused them- selves with a dance and barbecue at Wet-n-Wild Water Park. This gave them a chance to mingle with other seniors from neighboring schools. Be- tween sunbathing and swimming the seniors also found time to take the school sponsored trip to Disneyworld and Epcot. When asked what the main attraction at Epcot was, two answers stood out from the rest: Good looking foreign guys , stated Missy Hoegy Gerry Habarth simply com- mented, more wine . The following Saturday came much too soon for these Seneca Valley beach bums as they start- ed thinking about Gaithersburg and SCHOOL! The rooms were tidied up, bags were packed, and tears were shed as they prepared for the journey home. The worst part of this whole week was waving goodbye to the bright palm trees, sandy beaches, and tropical sun.
