After serving as Seneca Valley's prin- cipal for one and one-half years, Mrs. Marion Bell left Seneca to become the Director of the Department of Human Relations for Montgomery County Public Schools. Bell, whose last day was March 13, summed up her feelings about Seneca Valley, saying, It has been wonderful. Her new job offers her a broader range of people to work with. I have influence in schools throughout the system, she disclosed. She helps teachers find ways to maximize stu- dents'potential and make them feel good about themselves, in addition to trying to improve the school climate in MCPS. School ought to be a place where kids can work hard, but a place that they enjoy, Bell explained and added that she wants to help create that environment for all kids. At the Department of Human Rela- tions, Mrs. Bell deals with discrimina- tion and sex equity complaints, concerning the employment of all kinds of people. She stated her opinion on this issue, saying, l don't believe Goodbye Mrs. Bell. Mrs. Bell said that she has many fond memories of SV, and that she is proud of her accomplishments here, includ- ing having folders, buttons, and themes each year, reducing the number of sus- pensions and LC'sg refurbishing the teachers' lounge, and adding the Tru- ant. She added that some of her most enjoyable activities were dealing with students and parents. Mrs. Bell spoke during the football banquet.
