f, 1 Soaring Through Playoffs After losing many good seniors, it seemed as though the girls Varsity Bas- ketball team was looking toward more of a rebuilding season. But to the sur- prise of all, this was soon to be proven untrue. Ending up in third place at the end of the regular season may have been a shock to some, but not to those who played or even to the loyal fans who came out to watch. The players never quit and the fans never stopped cheering. lt was through total team ef- fort that they were able to keep pace with other teams, while exhibiting a constant spirit and vigor that lifted them to the playoffs. Two seniors, point guard Nadine Komes and center Alison Sutton lead the team effort with consis- tent playing throughout the season. Se- nior Christy Schuchter, remembered for being highest scorer in some games, will be greatly missed as well as Rox- anne Benson for her skill and determi- nation shown through the constant effort she displayed. The juniors and newly moved up Sophomores look for- ward to next year with hope and excite- ment, as they will be an experienced team, with even more spirit than be- fore. Losing to Blair in the playoffs was a great disappointment, but it means that next year's team will be setting their goals higher, and aiming for an even more winning season. -if ., , r N3 Qllqbsfftcrf X Row 1 lL-RJ Roxanne Benson, Stacey Weis, Jackie Lasater, Nadine Komes, Beth Abbott. The girls 1.V. basketball team finished with the best record in the county this year consisting of 16 wins and 4 losses. Not only were they first in the county but the best 1.V. squad Seneca has ever had. Coach Turnball attributes their suc- cess to the girls ability to work together as a team. No outstanding player was chosen because each girl gave one hun- dred percent every game. Mr. Turnball also feels the girls have the potential to become an excellent varisty unit. We are looking forward to seeing the girls play on the varsity squad next year. 1 1 1. Tracy Tascher stretches for the jump ball. 2.
