Let's Remember Graduation was always something that seemed so far away - for twelve years the class of '84 had been dreaming about the day when they would gradu- ate from high school. On june 5, 1984, their dreams were fulfilled. As the 546 seniors filed into the Cole Field House with families and friends looking on, you could feel the excite- ment in the air. Not even the stifling heat could suppress the enthusiasm felt by all present. This day reunited the seniors with their former principal, Nathan Pearson, who had retired from Seneca in 1983. Mr. Pearson spoke to the class about the future and passed on words of wis- dom on how to make their lives happy and successful. Class president Missy Oahl also ad- dressed the class. She spoke about the good times they had shared in the past and how they had all grown up togeth- er through the years. She wished the class much luck in their lives. Susan Bruce, valedictorian of the class, encouraged the students to set high goals for themselves and then achieve them through hard work and dedication. Eagles Soar With Spirit school spirit, the friendliness of people, the closeness of our stu- dent body, personalities of stu- dents and the fact that there is a place for everyone at Seneca. The guys also noted the people and the spirit and added Seneca's win- ning tradition, the atmosphere around the school and the dedica- tion of the staff. During the week, spirit chains were sold to prove which class was the most spirited. Each class was represented by a different col- ored link, the chains were strung out across the cafeteria and the class with the longest chain won. The seniors again showed their spirit by having a chain that stretched all the way around the cafeteria. On Theme Day, the classes got another chance to show their spir- it. Sophomores could be found in cowboy hats, flannel shirts and jeans, while juniors sported the space look with plastic dresses on the girls and space suits on the guys. Seniors dressed for Hallow- een a little early with scary masks and greusome make-up. The competition was close between the juniors and seniors, but the se- niors won out in the end, giving them a large lead going into Fri- day's float competition. The floats were a sight to see. The sophomores depicted an old fashioned western hayride. Wllul-N Claudia Osorio, Debbie King and Tracy Hanson get Chris Barankavich and his little princess Hope Emerick. psyched for the game aheadl
