MOCCASIN PRINT CELEBRA TES 55th YEAR A T SHS By Joey Splva. junior The MOCCASIN PRINT is going into its 55th year as a tradition at Seneca High. The first newspaper was issued October 10. 1930. The staff included Marie Fstlll. Editor-In-Chief. Edna Porter. Art Editor. Velda Huh' typist. Jewell Dobbs, assistant typist, and Loren Blaine, Printer. The newspaper went unnamed for a period of time. They held a contest for suggestions of the best name for the paper. Several names were given, but only the best was chosen. “Moccasin Print”. Some of the articles that were in the first addition consisted of the following: “Ministrel Takes Place of Annual Carnival”. “Seneca Trounces Wyandotte”, and “Better Spelling”. Another article in the paper was titled “Our Paper”. It told about the main purpose of the paper which was to let the parents and the community know what they were doing in school. And it gave the students a chance for self expression on the improvement of the school, and the activities in the school. Seniors Karla Mailes. FBlfl continues with new leodership By Kristi UJhitehill, junior Blthough the Seneca Chapter of Future Business Leaders of Rmerica had a nevu sponsor this year, Mrs. Rleto Plotner, they still remained very active. Rgain this year FBLR had a roadblock for the March of Dimes and raised S 142.87. They raised money for their local club by sellilng buttons at the Neosho Fall festival. They used this money for the pizza party and for state. This year four members of FBLR qualified for state: Juniors Dana Friend. Recounting I; Craig Jay. Business Math II; and Kristi UJhithill. Heath Service Report and one Freshmen, Susan Daniels, entrepreneurship. FBLR is open to anyone enrolled in a Business class. It tries to get young men and women ready for the business world. W Craig Jay, a junior at Seneca High, has been president of Future Business Leaders of Rmerica for the past 2 years. UJhile president, the dub supported March of Dimes by participating In a road-block and held a mentoring program with the Local Business and Professional LUomen Organization. Other than FBLR, Jay is also currently involved in Math League and Student Council, where he ser ved as vice -president. Jay was also elected as the 1986-87 National Hon Society president.
