These students worked after school, on weekends, or at nights. Many of the students simply worked so they could have money to go on dates or just to have personal spending money. Junior Arthur King, who is employed at Irvin's DX gas station, states, I work so I can have money to spend on the weekends. Junior Joey Spiva needs to work to pay for his Z-28. Spiva is employed at Gene's Food Store. Angela Ferguson enjoys working at the TeePee because of the extra money. Also some juniors are working to save money for college. Junior Sherry Bates replies, T work to save money for college! Shown below is Junior Charles ProfUt working at Mister B's. Kim Durbin: A couple of friends and I were walking uptown for lunch and they were walking on the road and I was walking on the side of the road and I looked behind me for some reason, and when I looked back, there was a sign right in my face. I ran into it and about busted my head open. neil Yust: My most embarrassing moment was when I was in the wrestling room weighing and Carol Ritter, our manager, walked up and saw me. Colleen Alderman Margaret Anderson Michelle Bailey Roger Ball Jett Bashor Christy Belcher Todd Bennett Greg Berry Ange Blankenship Darren Blevins Karrie Brigham Eddie Brodrick Lisa Kuhn: In Biology II, 5th hour, we were typing our blood. I had finished doing mine, and stood up to look at another persons card, when I went to sit down, I hit the edge of my lab stool and it slid backwards and I fell on my rear-end. Everybody on the other side of the room said, she fainted , but 1 really hadn't. Carol Ritter: I was walking up to the wrestling room to talk to Coach Triplett and the door was open so I just walked in and all the wrestlers were weighing in and most of them didn't have their clothes on. Deron Burr: After writing 88 on the seniors car windows, they got revenge by giving me a blue-nose , which lasted over a week. Scott Cooper: I was quarterback homecoming night and I ran a certain play the wrong way. (I got freshman of the week.) Eddie Brodrick: We were playing basketball at East Mewton and I was shooting a free throw, and I missed the rim and shot an air-ball. I was the only player down there too. Greg McGehee: I walked into Mr. Reed's class 2nd hour and sat down until I didn't know anybody in the class, then I realized I was in the wrong class because I don't have Mr. Reed until 3rd hour, so I got up and walked out quietly. Raymon Merriman: At the basketball game between Seneca and Mt. Vernon, everybody would stomp their feet, clap their hands, and yell 2 when Seneca would score. Anyway at half-time, the teams changed goals, and when Mt. Vernon made a basket, I forgot they changed goals and I yelled 2. 41 Shannon Crouch: It was my freshman year and Scott Cooper and I was in speech class. I was demonstrating a wrestling hold, the Asia Hook-up. There were three senior girls sitting in the front row and they started laughing at me and I didn't know why. Deron Burr told me to come back to his seat and he told me that my pants are unzipped. Jim newsom: It was the day of the pep rally and the classes were running 5-7-6 and I forgot and went to the wrong class. When I got to the right class, the students were waiting to applaud when I came in because they knew what I had done. Will Lant: The most embarrassing thing to happen to me up until now happened at the beginning of my sophomore year, 6th and 7th hours. I have a block class those hours and I heard the bell ring and thought it was the end of 7th hour. I rushed out of the class, got my books and ran down to the gym and started getting dressed. Suddenly all these freshmen started to surround me. That's when I realized that it was only the beginning of 7th hour and the bell I heard was ending 6th hour. So I slowly put me clothes back on and went back to class. Sophomore Shannon Crouch quenching his thirst. After years of being in elementary and junior high, the class of 1989 finally burst upon the high school scene and gained a few privileges. Ever since the class started going to school back in the fall of 1977, they have been required to eat their lunch in the school lunchroom. But recently things have changed. Very few lettermen returning, only a handful of seniors and a very tough schedule faced us. But there were signs of something better. UUe had the best attendance ever for our summer uueight program ond our fall practice. Our seniors provided great leadership, the juniors made us solid with their work habits, the sophomores came through beyond our wildest expectations. The three things I suppose I'll remember most about the 1985 Indian football team is the courages correbac after the gut-wrenching loss at UJebb City, the derating play off games and the fact that thes really seemed to have fun. proved to me that they wer ners far beyond numbers scoreboard. Halley's comet returned; the Challenger's explosion shocked the world; the Mexico earthquake caused major destruction; Libya and the United States combat in the Mediterranean. The United States had many of its own events. The tylenol poisoning returned; the Statue of Liberty is reconstructed; Rocky and Rambo movies swept the nation; and President Reagan developed colon cancer. Within Missouri — the World Series was held between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals, making 23 year old Bret Saberhagen a national celebrity; and the Missouri lottery finally comes!
