Text from Pages 1 - 108 of the 1948 volume:

WARRIOR ms We now present to you the Seneca Warrior for 194S. Page by page we have watched it grow until it is now complete. In . this volume we’ve tried to fairly represent the events in our school the past year—the laughs and tears, the drama and comedy, the headaches and heartbeats of you, the students. We have done everything possible to make this book one that will please you, but a year-book’s shortcomings are inevitable! —The Staff Editor-in-Chief-------Carol Cole Assoc. Editor Berna Jean Taylor Assistant Editors-------Arlene Carman, Mary Fern Williams, Nancy Chase, Dorothy Lawson Artists-----Ila Mae Bloodough, Jimmy Green Staff Assistant-----Vera Lee Smith Business Mgr. Photographer-----Ray Fowler ___ Circulation Advertising---Geneva Mhoon, Billie Holcomb, Carolyn Dooley Once again here our school mates assemble, And fain would lift our hearts in song. To our high school, our dear alma mater, Let the gladsome moments prolong. We are proud of our lads and our lasses In honors won in days gone by, So here's a cheer for our old high school, For our old high school, dear old high I Here's to our classes, Here's to our lasses, Here's to the lads they adore! Here's to the Seniors so mighty! Juniors so fighty! Freshies, and Sophomores! Let mirth and gladness banish all sadness, And as the days go by, you'll find us Willing and ready, sturdy and steady, Boosting for our old high! HARVEY KEITH HOMER COLE WIRTH FOWLER It isn’t necessary to be sent to the office” to know our superintendent, Mr. 0. W. Fox, for he always has a smile and greeting for anyone he meets in the halls or on the street. During his administration since 1943 many improvements have been made in our school, not the least being that we now have a teacher and classroom for each grade in the elementary school. He taught American History two years and coachedawinning basketball team three years. The teams became Tri-County Champs in ’43-’44 and ’44-’45, won first place in our Two-State Tournament '43-’44. Mr. Fox is also an outstanding individual in the work of the community. He is a member of the Commercial Club, the Lions’ Club, and an active worker in the Methodist Church. He owns an attractive home in Seneca, residing here with his wife and two children. The picture on his desk is of his daughter, Donna Kay. Born in Mendon, Missouri, Mr. Fox received his B. S. degree from Central Mo. State Teachers' College in Warrensburg, and his masters’ degree in high school administration from Missouri University Margery Bushner Secretary jf rincipai IVA WELLS, B. A. Since the fall of 1926, Mrs. Wells has been principal, and during that time she has seen 6S0 seniors graduate from the halls of Seneca High School. She has been one of the senior sponsors and director of the senior play each year. Mrs. Wells, you’ve given much throughout the years: courage and understanding, an appreciation of a job well done. You've given faithful inspiration. You’ve quieted fears when imaginary goblins in mathematics lurked around your classroom door; you’ve given love and hope; and a host of pleasant memories. We’re each a little part of you, and for all these contributions to our living and more, we thank you most sincerely. .-r REITHA McCRACKEN, B. S. Sponsor of the senior class, Moc. Print, and Warrior, Mrs. McCracken has taught commerce and English here for three years. Her training was completed at S.M.S., Springfield. INEZ BUZZARD, B. S. For four years Mrs. Bussard has been teaching social studies at SHS, and she sponsors the student council. Northeastern State, Tahlequah, is her alma mater. MORRIS GUTMAN, B. S. Gaining a very favorable reputation this year with his direction of the junior and senior plays and other productions. Mr. Gutman has taught English and speech, and has co-sponsored the junior class.
