BASKETBALL jim Y Y p Bill Phil Eleven consecutive losses do not look im- pressive in the record boolts. Some consola- tion may be gained by the fact that the margin of loss in many of these games has been so small that one good defensive move or one good shot could have tumed defeat into vic- tory. The team has been especially sharp at times but has failed when the chips were on Bob th li wlllcky e ne. The failure to win has been disappointing to the coaching staff, with early season pre- dictions of a good year falling very short of expectations. The fact that none of the play- ers has been able to rise no a natural position of floor general and carry the team over the rough spots has been an important factor. The second half collapse on so many occasions is indicative of poor conditioning. A team must be able to carry a full head of steam for the entire game to win the close ones. Senior Captain Rollie Hoffman, Earl Frarey, jim VanWie, George MacDonald, and Francis McGory will be lost by graduation. Retuming starters, Darrell Weichenthal and joe Frankovitch, will be flanked by Phil Freeman, Karl Perry, Lyman Wood and Babe Pol- manteer. With some fine replacements moving up from the jayvees, we will go out on the limb again and predict a winning season next year. 50
