Here in a little town where the steeple of Sts Pet- er and Paul church is the high- est point, we have learnedof the beauty of Life--of the gladness of God Ibeheve InGod the Father Almighty Creator of heaven and earth And in Jesus Chrlst His only Son our Lord The light of His eternal glory has been shed upon our school days And with radiance It extends beyond our graduation night For our Faith our school was built Our teachers to 1ts glory dedicated their lives And in 1ts brightness we shall walk through the shadows of life Triumphant because We believe and We will serve The wisdom of God unfolds to man through the study of science music literature Here to venerable Seneca Catholic where the Iron Stairs thread together the days of joy and endeavor we came as fresh men in a golden September 1946 A monument to the faith of the pioneers Seneca Catholic reminds us as we leave xnMayt1me that Falth in God will guide us unerrxngly to Peace WITH HIS SHIHTS FUHEVER by . Q W . M F A1- bert taught informer years sang his requiem. Here the choir listens to the singing of the gospel. As one student wrote, 'When the choir sang for his requiem, it seemed to me that Father Albert was singing with them. by W l WW 'MJ High school boys and alumni embers a Fatherhad great devotion to Our Lady of Fatima and had worked untiringly to make it a parish devotion in the interest of world peace. On the day of his requiem, high school girls ask Our Lady to keep him safe in her home of peace and glory. Our Lady of Fatima, ob- tain peace for the world, and light eternal for the pastor who loved us and you. May his devotion to you remainwith us and help us to meet you and your Son as he metyou, after a life given for Christ and your other child- ren. lllE DEUICHTE We might have forgotten about the splendor of God. . .we might have let our ideas about it stay only in the Ideal World. . .except that one beau- tiful September day this year, our best friend and leader quietly put aside his work and walked out of the glory of autumn into the unclouded Vision of God. Father Albert Haver- kamp,O.S.B.,amanwho loved earth's common beauties and who had lived 55 years in the consciousness of God's presence, went to His reward September 30, 1949. And so we dedicate our 1950 Trojan to you, Father Al- bert. Pastor of Seneca for two years, executor of the school's improvement program, lover of singing and praying, you left us an example to follow and a memory to love. Always as we turn the pages of this book we shall re- member the vibrancy of your voice as you sang the Preface, andthe kindliness of your smile on the playground. We shall remember how you made our old school a place of beauty, as you painted walls and ceilings on hot days, installed new light fixtures and Venetian blinds, equipped a library, and dreamed of a new school. We shall remember your thirst for beauty as you directed THE UPPER ROOM, THE VAL.- IANT, and started the parish Holy Hour that man might taste more deeply of God. And we shall rejoice that you are wait- ing for us now in the beauty which 'eye hath not seen, nor ear heard. 5 ii if THHT IH Hll THINGS HUD IHHU BE GLUHIHEU S1ster Slster Sxster Slste r Slster S1ste r ? Father Albert'.s death came as a great shock to the entire com- munity but not the least to the hushed students summoned to church at three o'clock Friday to hear Father George announce: Vile have often spoken of how the lland of God calls whom it wills.
