Facult . . . any students and teachers agreed that noth- M ing set this year apart from the rest, except that more national issues - declining scores on literacy tests, student motivation at school, and the questioning of students' futures at college - were discussed. Teachers and administrators seemed to take a growing interest in the students in and outside school activities. Preparing the upperclassmen for college was the purpose of such English classes as College Prep and Composition 2. All this help has not gone without appreciation. Although no standing ovations, no bouquets of roses, not even a thank-you came to these givers, the Seminole High teacher received his satisfac- tion when the student did well in class. Teaching class, Mr. Guetzloe teaches a Modern Biology class. Literacy tests, eleventh graders struggle through long hours of testing. Cafeteria break, students enjoy a pause between classes. 240 Faculty

F CULTY LIFE STYLES: CTIVE AND HU ORED Every student groaned and moaned when the buzzer went off at 6:00. The realization that it was another school day made them want to roll over, dig into the covers and pretend they were dead. But what many didn't realize is that most teachers and administrators were already on their way to school, facing another day of seemingly thankless and demanding work. Some teachers met in the faculty lounge or departments to have a cup of coffee and talk quietly before the mad rush of juniors and seniors filled thehalls. The faculty and staff at Seminole High School is a close knit group of friendly people. They worked as a team - caring and sharing together. During the Christmas holiday season spirits were high and teachers seemed to be more lenient than ever about in-class parties. Students as well as faculty brought all kinds of refreshments and even cooked in school to make the last day before vacation certainly the most pungent school day ever. Seminole High School is fortunate to be with perhaps the most compe- tent faculty and administration in the county. The contributions they make are numerous. In recognition of outstanding achievements a new award was sponsored by the Key Club - The Teachers of the Month! At the end of each month Key Club honored one male and one female teacher for their various con- spicuous accomplishments and activities. Many teachers did not limit their ' A school activities to the classroom. ,ft Coaches, club sponsors and advisors i ,Q ., all gave their time land moneyl to make their own particular group, r team or club as worthwhile as possi- ble.
