S QW 'I The underdog Ind1ans went to Lubbock to play the1r f1rst reg1onal basket ball game They played Alpme Alplne was the wlnner of 7AA They had defeated Coleman, the 8AA wmner, m the b1 d1str1ct game WE beat Alpme 70 to 51 For the last game 1n reglonal we played Chlldress Chlldress had defeated Stanford 1n thelr f1rst game 1n reglonal They had two all state boys on then' team, but th1s d1dn't stop us from beatmg them 60 to 54 Th1s wm enabled the Ind1ans to go to Aust1n to the State Meet The boys Atlanta Atlanta was the toumament cholce to wm state Our boys went out on the court already beat by what the sports wr1ters were saymg, but l1ke someone sald the game IS played on the court not on paper Atlanta was taken by a score of 60 to 56 In the f1na1s we played San Marcos just because we had beaten Atlanta d1dn't help to ra1se our stand1ng for we were st11l the dark horse But the ' l1ttle Ind1ans beat San Marcos m a thr1ll1ng game whlch came out 50 to 49 Thls was the frrst W11'1I11!1g of state 1n the hxstory of the school In all probab111ty l'.l11S was the shortest and yommgest team to ever do somethmg as great as wmnmg state 2525 Xxx went down there as the underdog again.
