SEMINOLE CHIEFTAINS ARE STATE CHAMPIONS The 1953 edition of the Seminole Chieftains, copped, for the first time in the history of the school, the Class A STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP. They defeated all of their conference opponents in regular season play, and in the playoffs, Sulphur, and Poteau. They defeated Altus in the finals by a score of 49-14. Of the nine seniors on the first team, eight were named All-Conference and ROBERT BELL two acquired the coveted All-State honors. CaPl'ain Though the chieftains will be hard hit by graduation this year, there is strong feeling among the 1953 squad members that the 1954 squad will be equally as strong as the Single-wing-express of '53.
