Text from Pages 1 - 144 of the 1988 volume:

These are the reflections which shape our future, the mirrored stillnesses which create volcanoes from potential and build within each of us the ability to succeed. We will reflect upon them tomorrow as yesterday, laughing about the humorous past, shedding a tear over the sentimental memories. These are the days of Seminole, the times of being together to learn consideration and what the word friendship really means. It is the times of being alone to find ourselves — the people we truly are. We cherish these precious memories that have shaped our world, the many faceted prisms of reaching maturity and under- standing and enjoying it. These are the reflections of Indians. Gena Newberry — Editor FACULTY rj| SERVICE SUFPO: SENIOR FAVORI7 JUNIOR SOPHOMORE?' fI men .kkSiith gfIade ACTIVITIES SPORTS CLOSING ADVERTI ENTS This 1987-1988 annual is dedicated to Mr. Charlie Barber. Mr. Barber is a custodian with overwhelming responsibilities. An outstanding impression of the general appearance and upkeep of the school is left on those who visit our building. The problem of keeping a school clean and neat is a monumental task. Mr. Charlie Barber, with insight and perseverance, sees that these harsh duties are carried out through his loyalty to our school. His work is appreciated by everyone and he is well-deserving of this honor, as he is an attribute to Seminole County High School. 3 Eighth grade representatives Renee Jones. Sherry Hall, Randy Groomes, Elaine Smith — Advisor The National Honor Society is the frontrunner of organi - zations and societies that promote appropriate recognition for students who reflea outstanding accomplishments in the areas of academics, charaaer, leadership, and service. College admissions officers often look to NHS member- ship as a valid indicator that the applicant will succeed at the collegiate level of past-secondary’ education. The Honor Society member has already proven that he or she is able to achieve with academic endeavors, leadership — either overtly or silently — honorable and admirable character, as well as service that demonstrates that the member is willing to use talents and skills for the improvement of society. Serving one another and the community is expressed in the motto of the NHS, Noblesse Oblige.” Members of the NHS are obligated to fulfill the motto with behavior that is honorable, responsible and generous to others. The Brigham Smith NHS Chapter provides Seminole County High School students the opportunity to share their talents with other students, their school and their community. 77 First row; New Inductees — Tracie Lee, Elizabeth Richardson, Stephanie Atkinson, Micki Boyd. At every football game, whether it be at home or away, the Green Machine can be seen performing one of it's spectacular half-time shows. The band strives to make it's show better and better each week, not only in order to impress the crowd but also to prepare for the Marching Festival in November At the Marching Festival the band is judged on how well it performs Besides the football games and Marching Festival, the Green Machine was also able to attend the Band Day at the University of Georgia, where the band performed Pre-Game and then got to watch the Bulldogs lose to LSU The Green Machine also traveled to Troy State to perform in their Homecoming Parade and then attended a football game afterwards After the game the band was treated to a concert by the Sound of the South The band also performed at the Harvest and Spring Festivals The 1987-1988 school year for the band was simply superb The new uniforms, the pride that was felt during marching season, the cooperation of everyone, and the friendships that were made, made this year very special All of this made the year for the seniors a very memorable one also Mr. Robert Strickland deserves a lot of credit. He has spent so many hours at the bandroom working on the shows for Friday nights. He is a fantastic band director and deserves a tremendous amount of respect by all. CLOSING These are the days of Seminole — Seeing new faces which we shall come to know, appreciate, and love; Forming the ideals and principles that will make us adults; Closing the formidable gap between yesterday and tomorrow. Laughter and tears, joy and sadness, victory and defeat; Shouting for that winning touchdown; Bursting with pride as band, bedecked in green and white, come marching down the Field; Having Filled the silent halls with laughter and warmth; Having grown in stature, mind, and heart; Moving now. heads high, to take our places on the horizons of tomorrow. These are the Reflections of Indians. Gena Newberry — Editor ALMA MATER On a city’s southern border, Reared against the sky. Proudly stands our alma mater. As the years go by.
