SEMINOLE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL Seminole County High School What is school? A learning institution? To me and possibly to many others, school is a place of social learning, a place of understanding, and a place of imparted knowledge. School should be a place where students and teachers can get along in harmony. This we find at SCHS. This yearbook is a permanent record of our lives and times at Seminole County High School. This is our school; be proud to be a Seminole Indian. Joe Miller, Editor INDIAN Opening 1-8 Administration 9-16 Seniors 17-27 Senior Favorites 28-32 Senior Index 33-34 Juniors 35-42 Activities 43-61 Literary 62-64 Band 65-72 Sophomores 73-80 Sports 81-99 Senior Zodiac 100 Freshmen 101-110 Closing 111-112 Advertisements 113-136 DEDICATION The annual staff of 1980- 81 under the supervision of Mrs. Corene Hamilton and Mrs. Wilma Jones dedicated this volume of the INDIAN to the gradu- ating seniors of 1981, and a special dedication to the four students who would have graduated with them. Those stu- dents, Joey Baker, Kevin Ford, Tommy Lewis, and Reuben Brookins, are missed by all who knew them. The joy and happi- ness they put into our lives cannot be replaced. Even though they are far from us, they are far from being forgotten. Staff of 80- 81 The annual staff this year decid- ed to develop a theme pertaining to soap operas and television pro- grams. Students oftentimes picture themselves as am actor or actress on a stage; the stage being SCHS, and you, the student body as the actors. Let’s refer to this yearbook as a record of the players that “strut and fret their hour upon the stage; a tale told by an idiot; to be heard no more,” only to be read and seen in the 1981 INDIAN. Its members includt those who participate in ail phases of ac tivities to those who concentrate strictly on their books. If there is anything goinc on at SCHS, one knows that some Sopho more is involved. They may be found ir the parking lot before school, on the front steps, clowning around in the cafeteria, yelling as loudly as they can at a pep rally, or believe it or not, working hard in class. They are everywhere. As much as we tease about their youth and enthusiasm, we all know that good “old SCHS” wouldn’t be the same without the Sopho- mores. You are put into a new environment the minute you step through those “Doors of the Future” into S.C.H.S. That one step begins a complete new phase of your liffe. The cam- pus, the teachers, the food, the people, and the school itself are all new to you. Once you get over the first shock of going to a new school, you should get involved rather than isolate yourself. Although, it is important that you keep your grades up, it is equally important that you contribute other things to the school, as well. True, the school is here for the purpose of educating you, however, it would be unfair for you to take without giving back something. Getting involved in school ac- tivities allows you to contribute to the school and to expand your personality. Yet only memories remain of the school year, while the yearbook captures tteje memories in a binder. As you look back over the past year, I hope you will remember all ot the weekends we passed up just to finish a term paper, study for a nid-term exam, or any other of many reasons. But, also, remember the rewards, the compliments, ahd the smiles on the teachers’ fate's that we received for it. This has also been a year for expansion. The entire SCHS has been renewed and-remodled.
