I 'jjOWp$ ydy-l fiprmQ'dfjjowrwd NtfQNl 9L61 3HI ANNUALCIAFF DEDICATES ANNUAL We, the annual staff, proudly dedicate the 1976 INDIAN to Marcus Holley. We dedicate the 1976 INDIAN to Coach Holley because of the spirit reflected by him into each of our lives. He is always a symbol of our spirit. He has helped to bring joy and tears to Seminole County High, but this itself is spirit. Coach Holley has a record of which to be proud. He has coached at SCHS for ten years. Dur- ing this time, he has made Seminole County High a name to be spo- ken with pride. 1965-75 Won - 78 Lost - 29 Tied - 3 1967 1-B West Champions 1973 1-A Regions Champions 1974 1-A Region and Area Champions 2 THE SPIRirOF ’76 CPfR DEVGiOPC IMTRTTME As an individual, each makes and possesses his own spirit. This spirit instead of leaping into bloom, usually takes root slowly and grows with time. When a spirit has developed into a particular growth span, it is guaranteed not to disintegrate. Each individual's spirit is influenced by other spirits. These different spirits, in turn, are engaged into one. As one spirit, we have a feel- ing of common goals and longings. We have a feeling of security. If there are miles between us or even inches, we have a feeling of compan- ionship . 6 JL - 900 ucks op cpfR r Spirit is for shouting, touch- ing, living. Spirit leads one up. It makes one look up. It makes one think up. It makes one a better person than he was before. Spirit alters the way one relates to circum- stances. It offers hope . . . life. ACPfR TMUCTBt PRESENT Only as one, can a mass progress. The spirit of this mass must agree. When the spirit has been formed, only then can we as individuals take a step forward into Life. 11 Anita PoaW SENIOR SUFERWnVE’S THOUGHTS Being a friend is having a friend. I think the friends that I'm associated with here at SCHS are the greatest in the world. Charles This position gives me an incentive to continue to smile, be courteous, have concern for others, man- nerable. and love for humanity. Margaret Through my years at school I have made several friends. They have elected me as a Superlative and I consider this a great privilege. Harry To be voted for by my fellow classmates makes me feel that smiling, laughing, and talking to my friends is rewarding. Jackie It shows that your classmates have confidence and assurance in you as a person and a friend. David H. Being chosen made my Senior year even more spe- cial . It certainly makes me proud to be a member of the class of '76. Luanne Out of one hundred and forty-four seniors it is a good feeling to know that my classmates consider me as one of the favorites. Bernard You don't know how many friends you really have until you are elected. Angie It means being someone that people look up to, and someone who has friends. Tony It makes me think I'm very respectable and can be a leader. Renae It means having great pride and respect for others. Parsha Being chosen a Superlative was one of the high- lights of my Senior year. Brenda From the number of the students, I’m glad I was chosen as a Senior Superlative by my fellow Seniors. Danny Having the thrill of being chosen from among all the girls in the Senior Class as one of the Super” girls. Freddie There were many other people that could have been selected, but luckily I was and it's a great feeling. Craig Soon our high school days will be over and only memories will remain. Being a Senior Superlative is going to be the best memory of all. Gayla It's a very high honor because you are chosen by your fellow classmates. Brant I was really surprised to be chosen because I have only attended school here part of my Junior year and this year. I am very proud to represent the class of '76. Frankie It means being a little higher in rank; it tells me that I'm of importance. David W. I have the privilege to leave a better influence upon the Seniors of '77, to show them a Superlative is imponant. Beverly It makes you think how many friends you have in the Senior class. Gene I have much responsibility, and we as Superlatives should live our lives so that others will say they want to be like the Superlatives of '76. Anita 16 ewes of ’76 We - die Seniors of '76 - think being a Senior is just one step down the long road of life. Our Senior year in high school has been one of continuous excitement. Being a Senior is being in a world of young men and women, parties, excitement, daydreams, competition, college, careers, new songs, laughter, sunshine, and last - but not least - GRADUATION. When our Senior year is finished, we shall feel like a part of each of us has died, even though we shall have the memories forever. We may take them out. look at them, and store them away for future days; but more imponant, when everyone else will be seeing the end of another school year ... the Seniors of '76 will be seeing graduation and the beginning of a new life. 18 . .'+• , Chris Lashonn Armstrong Esther Jean Ash Michael Thomas Ashley Allen Britt Barnes Brenda Juree Barber Maria Anonette Battle Jackie Elizabeth Brannon Rhunette Brannon Steven Bernard Brewington Terry Eugene Brooks Brantley Folmar Broome Freddie Mae Brown Margaret Brown Tracy Hamilton Bunce Rhonda Nell Burch Jeffery Allen Burke 19 Sharon Laveme Chrispen Charles Kay Christian Luanne Clarke Mary Jane Clemons Frankie Faye Cliett Bruce Wayne Collins Danny Kaye Conley John Calvin Corbett Joseph Alvin Corbett Myrvin Alline Coyle Ronnie Lee Crawford Cecil Floyd Croom 20 Willie Joe Daniels Wayne Aaron Davis Paisha Zerest Davis Debra Jean Dinger Billy Gene Drake, Jr. John Luther Dukes Clarence Leon Durden Randall Glenn Earnest Marcia Elaine Felts Ricky Fennell Timothy Kevin Ford Ulysses Floyd Jackie Lee Freeman Diana Kim Gale Anita Zuwanta Gonzalez Julie Lee Gordon 21 Sandra Anita Graham Donald Jerome Groomes Billy Paterson Hagler Ben Cecil Hall Charles Brantley Hall Harry Thomas Hall Walter Neal Hall Billy Gene Hand Kathy Harris Diane Henry Hattie Mae Henry Dora Mae Hention 22 David Keith Hill Allie Mae Hodge Brenda Gail Hodges Dianne Hopson Marsha Ann Home Gary Neal Huggins Amy Lee Jackson Anita Marilyn Johnson Benjie Lavoyd Johnson Cslinda Blair Johnson Brenda Kathy Johnson Michael Stephen Jones 23 Cynthia Annette Kelley Barbara Deanna Kelley Gilbert Mead Kelley. The Green Machine has always put forth the amount of effort needed for an excellent per- formance. After years of watching the band work together, one really learns the meaning of words such as dedica- tion, cooperation, and perseverance. The band has left a picture in the minds of many proud parents and friends. I just hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. Charles Hall 71 BRASS: ROW 1: H. Hall. K. Bunce. A. Jones. A. Califf. T. Feature Twlrler Robert Strickland. Band Dlrectoi Brenda Hodges, Drum Majorette As a member of the Green Machine” I have learned that if one or many work for a goal, it can be accomplished. As feature twirler, I have learned that in order to give a superlative performance as a group, one must strive for it individually. The band has taught me a sense of pride that I shall never forget. Jackie Brannon Words could not begin to explain; but, when 1 leave S.C.H.S., of all the memories I have, the ones I cherish the most are of the band. Mr. Strick- land has taught me more than just ”notes and fingerings!” All of the work I put into the band, I seem to receive double of everything in return. As Drum Majorette I've talked! I've yelled! I've laughed! and I've cried! - but, I feel it was all worth it because the 1975-76 Green Machine IS the Best Band In The Land!! Brenda Hodges MAJORETTES: KNEELING: Debbie Lewis, CeCile Kel- ley, Judy Felder. STANDING: Sarah Walker, Barbara Burke, Carol Jones. Sandy Miller - Head Majorette. After eight years of being in the band. I feel a sadness too deep for words when I think of leaving it. I remember the words of Mr. Strickland when I was just a beginner, The people in the band are one of the happiest groups in school. You will have fun and experience many learning situations.” As head major- ette I have learned that discipline is needed, but even discipline can be fun. As a member of the band I have learned cooperation and team work is the only way to achieve greatness, and I feel we have achieved this greatness. I am proud to be able to say I was part of it. Sandy Miller Someone once said, Friendships multiply, and joys divide griefs.” Another once said, The moment may be temporary, but the memory is for- ever. As captain of the silks and a member of the band, I feel that my friends have multiplied and the memory and joy of it all will last forever. Malcom, an outstanding educator, who has been pan of the Seminole County School System for half a century. For thiny-nine of these years, he has been Superintendent of Schools. Through his leader- ship, eighteen community- type schools were consolidated smoothly into three accredited integrated schools, thus ele- vating the educational levels for our county. Ever young in spirit, he exemplifies the intellectual achievements to all who have come under his influence. One wonders what it takes to make a yearbook. So far, it has cost a combined total of 300 hours of work, 30 pounds of paper, 12 typing erasers, 150 skipped classes, 60 gal- lons of ink, 50 rolls of film, loads of money, and the sane minds of the members of the annual staff. The annual staff has laughed, cried, shared ideas, and has come to respect and know one another. Our theme Spirit of '76 has been shown more through us than our yearbook. We had a great staff, but we couldn’t have done it without the support of the entire fac- ulty and student body. Through our combined efforts, the '76 INDIAN has met our greatest hopes, and we hope yours as well. Jackie Brannon, Editor 91 93 In times of weariness and darkness Spirit is our only hope. Spirit shines on our special dreams. Spirit calms the storms, dries the tears, and comforts the pains. When I reach a crossroad in life, I ask myself which road to take. I examine the challenges and possibilities of each. And my spirit leads me onward. Make what you will with your youth. For once gone, it will never return. The grass withers, the flowers fade. But the spirit shall stand forever. Autograph
