K Q r V The Senhr Chss of 1965 PEBBHHS THE SEHUCH Selma High School Selma, H. 0. rnm The Beginning Foreword The time for our departure is almost here But, we, as Seniors, can compare our lives with a river The water flows lively and rushes hurriedly from one bin and around to the next bin to find what lies ahead. We are like this river. By graduating from high school, we have reached this first bin in the river. We are anxious to discover what lies around the next bin for us. But we know that one day the water is stopped suddenly by a log in the water. And our life has come to a halt. The once-lively water becomes stagnant because we can no longer continue But all we can do in life is our best And we know that all we will get out of life is what we put into it. We are sad as our graduation day approaches- Yet happy and anxious for what lies around the next bin in our river. W. Earp. He was a person many of us, as students, will never forget. His love for youth was displayed in everything he did. He was a member of the United Forces of Education of North Carolina, was a past president of District 4 of the North Carolina School Boards Association, was a member of the Committee of 100 for Better Schools during the 1957 legis- lative term and served as a North Carolina delegate to the National School Board Association conventions the past two years. I-Ie supported our school strongly in all of its activities and the students of Selma High will always remember him for this. We, the Seniors of Selma High School say this in mem- ory of a great and dedicated man, Mr. I. W, Earp. 8 in 46? Keeping The Seheel Un The I 1 IO 60 . . . Sennca Staff A lot of hard work is involved in putting out an annual. There are pictures to take, plans to make and copy to write. During the course of the year, it endures numerous troubles. However at the end of the year, we find all our hard work was really worth it. Truly, an annual staff ex- perience is a once in a lifetime job. Terry Blakeslee, editor-in-chief, and Bonnie Coats, assistant editor, proofread the final copy. .V4 , Charles Little, sports editor, ad- mires the action shots in football. Billy Whitley, art editor, and Jennette Benson, business manager, enjoy the simple pleasure of looking at candid shots. Johnny Batten, photographer, and Betty jean Lynch, advertising mane ager, take time out to admire trophies. 62 75 Mrs. Francis Norris, SENOCA staff advisor. Beryle Davis, jtmior advertising manager, and Charlotte Bullard, junior art editor, help by typing copy. As in the past, the junior staff was of invaluable assis- tance to the senior staff in getting the annual off. The senior staff would like to personally thank the junior QNX' staff. Dwight Fields, junior business manager, Curtis Brown, junior sports editor, and Tammy Corbett, junior photographer, discuss plans for next year's annual. Co-operation is a must for preparing the annual. Dorinda Creech, junior assistant editor, and Tommy Woodall, junior editor, take time out from the annual to talk to Polly. 63 am, 2.
