av.. STARTING FROM SCRATCH Typical of today's modern school buildings. Selmaas new elementary building, located east of Selma, has twelve large rooms. Special emphasis has been put on the students' needs with colored blackboards and color glazed windows to protect their eyes from the rays of the sun and strain. Orange painted doors and window frames decorate the exterior of the red brick structure. To carry out the interior decorations are matching desks, which can be moved easily from room to room. The fifth grades have had the responsibility of maintaining a book store and an ice cream store. In the book store the students could buy paper, pencils, crayons, and other necessities. Profits from the book store and the ice cream store have been used to buy some of the smaller needs of the school. - H 1 v
