We had a wonderful year here at Sell-Perk and my friends and I are going to show you our high school life in its entirety. First there are the teachers and administrators to whom we owe so much for their educational instruction and help- fulness 1 t r1z 'l x 1 I .2 I . r 5 pr r ' ' I ' I I W. ,f . . .YL I .A - . . t ' 2,109 QQ! Iltfrs D 1,7 ,gg 1 Then we have the traditional seniors who have carried out the job of setting the path for the underclassmen, and the underclassmen themselves, working to achieve the height of scholarly attainment for their school. High school life is filled to capacity with extra-curricular activities. From fall, through winter, to spring, there are specialized clubs to meet the individual's taste. Teamwork is essential in a democracy. S-P's extensive sports program gives the student a chance to exercise his physical and mental abilities. As you see the various phases of our Sell-Petk school year, you will realize the great educational opportunities that the citizens of our community have provided to benefit us. 4 leobcafion 1 We, the class of '53, have a deep feeling of gratitude for Mr. Wallace, our class advisor. Through out four years at Sell-Perk he has done more for the class than any other individual. He paved the way for the success of the class in its many activities. In addition to directing both plays, he has supervised the concessions, chaperoned our many dances, and acted as guide and counselor on our class trips. Mr. Wallace has aided us in achieving the ultimate heights of our desired goals. We truly hope that as we enter our many walks of life, we may look upon him as one great factor in our success. It is with these thoughts in mind that the class of '55 dedicates this volume of the SPhere to Donovan C. Wallace. 5 ennri ge .SQAOOK One of the most significant steps toward Pennridge High School was taken on September fifteenth when the ground breaking took place before Dr. Snyder, Mr. Nase, our Student Council president, and Deep Run High School council president. The site of the new school is one mile north of Perkasie com- prising a fifty acre tract of land. Students attending this school will include Sell-Perk students, Deep Run, and West Rockhill students. Admission to this school is the promotion from the junior High School. All the modern educational equipment that is possible will be furnished here plus a number of gifts to be given by graduating classes and service clubs. Students graduating from Pennridge can surely be proud to have a building so modern and one that offers so much for a student to further his education. 6 V PRINCIPAL L-ff NN grim 16 .SZAOOZ KOGLFJ To the Graduates of Sell-Perk High School Class of 1953, I extend the good wishes of the Board of Education. We believe thit each of you has an objective toward which you are continuously taking steps for the ultimate achieve- ment of that objective. As Graduates of this school. we sincerely hope that each of you has the wit and the wisdom, the intelligence and the character to earnestly believe in your own objective. With this belief firmly imprinted on your mind and in your heart, we feel confident that you will do much that is constructive in the world of which you are 21 vitul part. Left to rigfofx Howard L. On many sides it is heard that our country is in a bad mess, that chaos is rampant on all sides, that the future holds nothing but despair. Naturally, such remarks tend to make some ask What's the use? What have we to look forward to? Why study, plan, and work? So let down the bars, whoop it up, on with the hot-rodsg drive fast, live fast while you can for tomorrow holds nothing for us. Whats the Use? Let none of you speak such nonsensical words. There is use. There is still a big place for each and every one of you who has learned to take control of his own mind, who will keep his own house in order, and who has purposed in his own heart to make his life count. HOWARD M. NASE, Principal Temple University, A.B.M.Ed. Congratulations, Sellersville-Perkasie graduates of 1955, on the completion of your high school course, and all best wishes as you commence the careers which lie before you. You are the twenty- third Class to graduate from Sellersville-Perkasie. Although there are dark clouds on the horizon, in general the opportunities ahead of you are as great or greater than ever-especially if you are willing to prepare yourself for them. It appears that you will be the last class to grad- uate from Sellersville-Perkasie High School. May you as well as all others of our alumni always be concerned that the torch of educational opportunity -which is passed on from generation to generation -may ever burn more brightly and more abund- antly. Congratulations again. We are counting on you to uphold the best traditions of the past, to go on to greater achievements in the future and we will follow your careers with interest and pride. Football season was opened right with a high-spirited booster campaign and the out- door pep meeting set the spirit roaring. The most important ceremony of the year was the ground breaking for our new high school, Pennridge. The building is now started and progressing rapidly. The students got into the national-swing by having their own presi- dential campaign and elections. What controversy? The Christmas decorations showed the great artistic ability of Sell-Perla. The musical talent in the chorus' Christmas concert was exceptional. The two weeks' vacation and the Silver Ball were enjoyed by all. Through The Year The Sell-Perk orchestra, The Blue Notes, made their debut in the Salt and Pepper program. Later they played at the Student Council Dance for the benefit of a foster child. The assembly council needs a cheer for the well- planned programs throughout the year. A youth center organization cam- paign was started with the backing of the students. The SPhere came forth with a talent scout program that very much interested the audience, Several students won distinction for Sell-Perk in the district spelling contest which has its beginning in individual home rooms, A new trophy was - won to be added to our collection for this, Also the volleyball team which won three years in the district to urnaments made the trophy ours permanently. Through The Year The Piano and Voice Recital was bigger ver. Several students and better than e re resented Sell-Perk's music department P in the Bux-Mont and District Bands and Chorus. be M Educational trips to institutions were made by the sophomores and the seniors, Also, the seniors say that their trip to New York is one they'il never forget. At the same time, Prom plans were on the mind of every junior and every student. The seniors spent a last day signing yearbaoks and receiving farewells ' t d nts, after all from all their friends. Final report cords astonished many s u e ' a wonderful one for everybody their studying and exams. This year was at Sell-Perk. J f X, gi' Q SW W Q Q EN . W ff!
