Xhbot, Dean Nlay, Kent llerzer, john Inge, Pete Dz1vvso11, Ladin Langeman, The 1977 edition of the Sehome Mariners were an exceptional gftlllp. Playing with a majority of underclassmen, they surprised the Northwest League by developing much faster than expected illld finished with a 6-3 record. Although only six se11iors started, four 011 offense and two on defense, tl1e Senior Class was an outstanding group of men and were very influential with their lead- ership. Seniors gaini11g Ist Team All-Conference recognition were: Tracy Abbott-defe11- sive End, Jim Lallas at Halfback, where he gained over 1000 yards rushing, Kllft Ko- otnekoff as Kicker as well as 2nd Team Defensive Linebacker, Steve Acalin, the team's leading receiver, outstanding Quarterback john Inge were also 2nd Team. All- Conference picks John Inge was also elected Team Captain by his fellow players. The Most Inspiration choice went to Pat McCary, and Mark Pennylegion as Best Blocker, and Kurt Kootnekoff as Best Hitter. The Bulldog award went to Kevin Morgan for tl1e 2nd straight year. WVith a wealth of juniors and Sophomores playing, and playing extremely well- Sehome's football future looks very bright. Junior Brad Haggen and Sophomores Pe- ter Dawson and Ladin Langema11 made the Heraldis 2nd All-Conference Team. Cther u11derclassmen that started and promise championship performance for the fu- ture are John Lallas, Pat Reynolds, Peter Reynolds, Peter Oswald, Howard Bobson, Kent Herzer, Kevin Moore, Curt O'Connor, Sean Riley illlfl Marty Baughman. Also joining this strong group of returnees will be some outstanding individuals from the J.V. Team which had a great year with a 6-1 record. 1977 was a fine year. The e11tire team was a great group to work with and they did a fine job this year, but even more than this, they set the tone and attitude for next yearis team to win it all.
