Our hard-working and versatile seniors were never better than when they led us to our second straight District 12-C championship. With the seniors scoring 87.5 points the team totaled a record 118 and overwhelmed the rest of the field. In the extremely strong Western Division we finished a strong second behind a powerful Sheridan track team. It was the fourth year in a row that we were either first or second in our division. Brett Haines won two firsts and two thirds and Dan Jasso a first and a second to lead our team to a 42 point total. At the State Track Meet in Butte our seniors scored 17 points to place us fourth in the tremendous competition. It was the fourth year in a row that we had placed either fourth or second. Leading the way as usual was Brett Haines with seconds in the 800 and 1600 meter runs and a fifth in the high jump for nine points. Dan Jasso chipped in four points with a strong second in the 3200 meter run. Versatile Jeff Farra placed fifth for one point and in an exciting climax to a great year Knut Hoelstad scored the last three points with a tremendous school record pole vault of 13 feet. 51 BLACK HAWK BAND Top row I to r: Bridget Kennedy. For the first time in the history of our school, a musical unit was allowed to travel outside the state and perform in national competition. Black Tie Affair traveled to Colorado Springs and performed in the Winter in the Rockies Festival” sponsored by Music Mae- stro Please Inc. This trip was a great experience for the kids, chaperones, and directors, and end- ed with an award banquet where the group re- ceived a Very Good” rating for their perfor- mance. After the trip the group really came together as a musical unit. They received three superior rat- ings at the District Music Festival in Missoula and went on to repeat this accomplishment at the state level in Helena.
