Wrestling Review The 1980-81 Wrestling season had its ups and downs for the team and for the wrestlers as individuals. The team was consistently in the competition but fell short of accomplishing its goals. For example: the team finished with a ten win, one loss dual record but on the last dual had its winning streak ended at 39, having been undefeat- ed the year before. In tournament competi- tion the Blackhawks had its “place in the sun. At the Kalispell Invitational Mark Cahoon and Manuel Kester- son took firsts. At the CMR Holiday Tournament, Soph- omore Wade Hallam took the 98 lb class and Mark Ca- hoon took second at heavyweight. At the Rocky Mountain Classic Mark won the championship while Wade took second after a close match. When Division- als came around Seeley- Swan was ready but only able to muster a third place finish. The loss ot two close semi- final matches prevented the Blackhawks from winning the Western Division, how- ever five wrestlers did quali- fy for state. They were: Mark Cahoon, Manuel Kesterson, Wade Hallam, Kelly Lease, and Chris Rammell. At State, Mark Cahoon won the championship at heavyweight while is friend Manual Kesterson finished second in the 185 lb. class. The Blackhawks finished the season with a respectable 10th place finish. 29
