Girls Place fourth At State Chris Jungers, 13th 14:13; Tonya Rammell, 15th 14:29; Christine Crouch, 28th 15:13; Les- ley Pagett, 35th 14:45; Dora Morris, 48th 16:39; Cindy McCaffrey 55th 17:27. ’istine 26 3rd At State The 1979 boy’s cross-country season was both very good and yet a little dis- appointing. We probably had the stron- gest team in the history of the school, but we still failed to win the elusive state championship trophy. The Blackhawks were built around tough senior and junior veterans Bob Baier, Jay Rammell, Mike Haines, and Randy Frye, and bolstered by promis- ing young newcomers Bill Wood, Wade Hallam, Chris Rammell and Marvit Door. At one point in the season there were 19 boys on the team and we ended up with fifteen lettermen. We were un- defeated in local B, C, and some A com- petition, but cold weather and sickness of some of our best runners caused us to get third at State rather than the cham- pionship that we wanted. State Plac- ings: Bob Baier - 4th, Jay Rammell - 24th, Mike Haines - 26th, Chris Ram- mell - 32nd, Wade Hallam - 37th and Randy Frye - 68th. Standing 1. to r. - Bob Montgomery, Mark King, Mitch Baretta, Randy Frye, Mike Haines, John Owens, Bob Baier, and Coach Dan Baretta. Sit- ting - Bill Gillespie, John Hallam, Wade Hallam, Marvit Door, Bill Wood, Jaylund Rammell, Mark Erickson, and Chris Rammell.
