Text from Pages 1 - 66 of the 1967 volume:

GOOD TIMBER The tree that never had to fight For sun and sky and air and light, That stood out on the open plain, And always got its share of rain; Never became a forest king- But lived and died a scrubby thing. That man who never had to toil; Who never had to win his share Of sun and sky and light and air. Never became a manly man. But lived and died as he began. Good timber does not grow in ease; The stronger wind, the tougher trees; The father sky, the greater length; The more the store, the more the strength. By sun and cold, by rain and snows, In tree or man--good timber grows. Where thickest stands the forest growth We find the patriarchs of both; And they hold converse with the stars Whose broken branches show the scars Of many winds, and much of strife-- This is the common law of life. Published by the Office Practice Class and Students of Seeley-Swan High School Seeley Lake, Montana DEDICATION DALE CONLEY We, the 1966-67 yearbook staff, dedicate this yearbook to our faithful friend and bus driver, Dale Conley. Dale drives the Swan Valley bus and has the patiences of a saint. He has driven the bus for three years. This dedication is made in appreciation and thanks for all the trips he has cheerfully taken us on. We look forward to more of these trips. We have looked into the future and have tried to predict what the seniors are doing. DIANA BROWN is now the captain of the army nurses corps in Viet Nam. She reports that she likes her work very much. Here comes MARTIN CAHOON riding a kangaroo. They say he just came from Australia where he has 300,000 acres with 300 head of kangaroo. BOBBY CALLAHAN is a professor and is working on a new invention of a robot to take his place at work while Bobby is on Cupid's mission. Now, the current second Elizabeth Taylor is CHRISTIE CHRISTENSEN. Presently she is in Switzerland with the leading role in Heidi . Coming from the French Riviera, RON CURTISS has a job measuring bikinis to see if they 're of legal size to be worn in public. Best of luck, Ron. Excitement is the key work in PEGCY ELDRIDGE'S life as she is a GO-GO Dancer” in San Francisco at the Elk’s Club. MARSHA GRAY has worked and struggled through college to get that important degree. She has decided to let her mother and father relax in rocking chairs while she takes over the ranch. She STILL chases those darn cows. It seems TOM HANSEN was such an outstanding typing student that he has made a career of it. He has replaced Miss Bandy as typing instructor atS-S.H.S. We find that LORETTA HERBERT has FINALLY earned her M. R. S. (Mrs., of course) degree. Her major is in child care where she has earned five credits. Beware in approaching the logging areas, where you will find JAY HOWARD bombing around on his D-9 cat still trying to create a cat race, or is it a rat race? LOREN JOHNSON'S desire to become a coach has led him to the backwoods country of Africa where he has found difficulties creating an eight foot basketball team of Watusiis. RICHARD JOSTE is now in Coutts, Alberta, Canada where he is still dodging the draft. He returns across the border to Sweet Grass every night for that high-class United State's entertainment. Here comes the World's second Einstein, MYRENE KAUFFMAN, returning from Europe where she has just developed a new Peace” theory, but somehow got it mixed up with the Power Pill formula. DON KNAPP has made his fortune and is driving girls mad. He finally revealed his secret to Clairol for that dashing shade of red. DENISE MACE seems to have found the way to mix business with pleasure. She now owns a chain of Drive-Ins throughout the world. They say she holds the patent on the Way Out Discus Burger. Since SKIP McNEALEY is so thoughtful, friendly, lovable and sincere the younger generation has de- manded his promotion to the president of the Saf-T-Pop Sucker Company. BEN OGDEN has just returned from his ranch in Scotland where he raises sheep dogs. On his ranch he has 1,000 sheep dogs . He also has five sheep. Best of luck, Ben, in your progress of raising sheep. BILLIE ANN SANDERS has made her mark in history as a designer by creating the fad for babies. It's the No Hair Look. We find SANDI SMITH has acquired a very interesting position over the years. She is the chief executive of the Snickers Candy Bar. Sandi has written a book entitled SNICKERS AND IT'S HABITS., CHUCK SPENCER has taken on the role his older brothers have. He is now the head patrolman in Seeley Lake. He spends his leisure time practicing quickie turns in downtown Seeley Lake. JEAN STOKES' sweet smile, kind words to everyone, thoughtfulness, non-complaining, bubbling and friendly personality has helped her become a receptionist at the Waldorf Astoria. We find Mr. Haines, our class advisor, in the corner of the trophy room reminiscing over the year 1966-67. We detect a smile as that was the year many trophies and honors were awarded due to Mr. Haines' hard work, ability and dedication. Whatever the class of 1967 decide for their occupations, we wish them the best of luck and a lot of suc- cess in their life. 17 )Ot Anders Carol Anderson Bill Andenon Rita Bailey Larry Baker Nita Callahan Carol Clark Curtiss James Duncan Frances Gallagher STOICK DRUG, INC.
