At long last. SENIOR YEAR had arrived and now we could RULE THE SCHOOL just as the Boss. Bruce Springsteen was ruling the Rock World. We thought that after being here three years we had adjusted to everything but we were not prepared for the new set of rules which included a new bell schedule. Rather than the customary five- minute break between classes, there were now only three, which limited our social life drastically. We quickly compromised on four due to the mad rush in the balls. After a few days, school once again for monotonous and we all looked forward to the Senior Supper. Senioritis was already setting in. The big question of the year was whether or not we were going to attend Harvard or C.C.R.I. in the fall of ‘86. College applications were dreaded by all seniors. The only good aspect of going to college was getting out of class to meet with college representatives. The football players were psyched for Homecoming, and the support was shown by their school in the rally. Everyone awaited Spirit Week as the Seniors anticipated a fourth con- secutive win. The winter was long and drawn out. but we found some relief in winter sports. As spring arrived we all prepared for our action-packed last week at Seekonk High. First on the agenda was Class Night directly followed by our Senior Prom at the Sheraton Islander in Newport. On the last and final day of our experience at Seekonk High we graduated with mixed emotions. Our time at Seekonk High will always be looked upon with fond memories. The beginning of our JUNIOR YEAR marked the half way point of our high school career. Summer had ended but you couldn't tell by the way we were dressed. The halls were filled with surf-style outfits, expecially the always popular Ocean Pacific (O P. to the in-crowd), and even boys with jams. These attempts to keep summer alive, however, did not postpone the inevitable PSAT's. Where did those words came from? Not English! We really had the upperclassmen spirit, though, and it came through when we once again proved that the Class of '86' was unbeatable by win- ning our third consecutive Spirit Week. Ghostbusters and nerds led us to victory under the sign Born in 68. out in 86! . Nellie Couto proudly represented us as homecoming queen. Prince and Madonna were the star idols of the year. We were getting into the grove and saying Let's go crazy by the time winter arrived. Winter also was the time when most of us had reached the magical age of sixteen, and that meant driving. Lessons with Mr. Weintraub prepared us to hit the roads. And. of course, one can never plan for the Junior Prom too early. All the time and money invested in tuxedos, gowns, limos, flowers really paid off. Our night. June 7. was Heaven especially for our Prom Queen, Kerri Holmes. The year ended on a low note, with final exams, infamous SAT's and good-byes to many good friends in the senior class. But we would return as SENIORS, and that was the best part. 9

Our SOPHOMORE year arrived after a great summer. We entered the doors feeling confident and ready to begin work. We had experience in dealing with the high school life, and we feared no one. We were now permitted into the large cafeteria for study and had the privilege of talking and moving around. Spirit week was another victory for us. We won the can drive and our reigning pie-eater. John Perry, broke his tooth by smashing his face into the pie. In the hall, girls dressed as boys and boys dressed as girls could be seen everywhere. We were an entire class of Boy George's. Homecoming rally arrived and Tracy Mooney took over for freshmen queen Janet Marn. Another exciting aspect of our SOPHOMORE year was Drivers-Ed. December came and we were allowed to order our class rings. When they arrived, everyone realized that we were now official high school students. As the year passed, we had matured and had come to realize how great our next two years would be. We were not invited to parties where we listened to the British Rock of Duran-Duran and The Police. The departure of Mrs. Armburst and Mrs. Wing was felt by all. but the arrival of Joe Stud, the substitute teacher, was easily appreciated by the girls. Our FRESHMAN year was one of many surprises as we came to the S.H.S. filled with fear as well as excitement. We shocked the school with our freshman victory in Spirit Week, especially upset- ting the seniors who had held the title for the previous two years. The canned goods and atten- dance gave us a head start, and although we lost most of the athletic competitions, the pie- eating contest pulled us through. We demonstrated our newly- found maturity as High School students by dressing as martians and. believe it or not, “trashbags. Breakdancing came into fashion as we all “Beat It to the beat of Michael Jackson. Being a freshman was fine until we tried to go to parties, and we realized how terribly unwanted we were. We eagerly awaited the end of the year, but we had one last obstacle left to conquer: FINAL EXAMS! They did have one advantage though, we were free by lunch time to leave school and hit the beaches! We finally realized that we were really in high school when our pictures appeared in the yearbook. What a thrill! 8
