The league record was 6-4, which allowed the Warriors a third place. This year’s starting team consisted of three Juniors and two Sophomores, and they showed con- siderable growth and improvement throughout the year. The season started with a very tough loss to P.C.D. in their snakepit. After being down by ten in the last quarter, the young Warriors battled Exciting action at the game back to trail by two with twenty seconds left. They could not score, and P.C.D. scored an unmolested layup for the final margin. One of the most difficult losses was at Case in the first round of league play. The team lost by two points after trail- ing by eleven at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The biggest win in league play came at D.R. Seekonk held a comfortable lead in the first half, only to get in foul trouble early in the third period. The lead dwindled to two points at the Boys’ Basketball “You'll never beat us with this plan!” start of the last period. With seven min- utes to go, Coach Heroux inserted Mike Murphy and Ben Soares, who were on the bench with four fouls apiece, and they quickly built the lead back to ten. Seekonk won, 57-47, and was the only team to beat D.R. The outlook for next year is very promising. Coach Menezes said that she was very happy with the girls’ great improvement this year and they played exceptionally well, considering that most of their competition came from schools much larger than Seekonk. The girls’ great improvement during the season was best seen at the two games against Somerset. Somerset, the most competitive team on the roster, beat Seekonk by a large margin in the first round of play. The second game was quite different, however, as Seekonk held the lead for a greater portion of the game. In the last minutes, Somerset came from behind to become victorious once again. Coach Menezes and the girls were very happy with their performance. This one game encouraged both team and coach about next season. The sophomore class proved to hold much talent as Mary Hendricks finished the season as the team’s high scorer. Tish Walsh, another sophomore, was the second highest scorer. Sue Shepard was the third girl on the team from the class of ’84, and she added greatly to the defense aspect of the game. Stacey Hess, co-captain, and Sue Regan, will also be returning next season. Stacey had the third highest point total, and Coach Menezes is looking forward to working with Sue and Stacey next year. Sue McKenzie, a senior and co-captain, was out most of the season with a broken wrist. She came back, however, for the last five games to add strength and support to the team. Brenda Ryan was awarded the Most Improved Player. She ‘became a member of the varisty team with no previous experience; and, she learned to become aggressive out on the court.’’ Pat McCloskey, a senior with two years experience playing on the varsity team, also added to the team’s many triumphs. 139 Seventh Consecutive Championship The Boys’ Varsity Swim Team finished their season capturing their seventh consecutive Southern Conference League Championship. The Warriors were undefeated for the seventh year, also, with a record of 7-0-1. Members of the All Star Team included Marc Doolittle, Jack Ellis, Kevin Oliver, Brian George, Steve Kamionek, Paul Lusignan, Mark Gousie, and Bill Fischer. Marc Doolittle was also selected for the Boston Globe All Star Team in the 100 yard breastroke. The Warriors displayed a great team spirit this season as they defeated Duxbury 86-85, the team favored to win the league championship. In a pre-season poll, Seekonk was predicted to obtain a fourth place in the league. A great addition to the team this year was diving coach Jay Eaton. For the first time in four years, the Warriors were able to compete in the diving event. Divers Rory Willis, Keith Doolit- tle, and Sam Willis showed considerable im- provement throughout the season and were a determining factor in several of the more com- petitive dual meets. Rory Willis finished his season with a tenth place in the Sectional Meet, with Keith Doolittle obtaining a second place in the Conference Meet. Ld “What's wrong with my hair Kevin? 140 Pit Power!! The Warriors had a record of 11-0-1 in the league, and an overall record of 16-5-1. There were many fine Juniors on the squad this season. The top scorers for the team were Mark Lavadiere, Dan Lareau, and Billy Lunnie, all of whom will be returning next season. The cap- tain, Mike Blanchard, along with assis- tant captains James Handanyan and Tom Brown, were an integral part of the team. Mike Blanchard was awarded the Most Valuable Player by Coach Clark; and, Mike, along with all of the other Seniors will ‘“be greatly missed next season.” With the majority of the team being Juniors, Coach Clark is very optimistic about next season. The Warriors will be moving to Division 1 next year, where their competition will be much greater. The Warriors attained third place in the league, exhibiting their strongest team efforts ever displayed. Leading in this powerful team achievement were players Kelly Henson, Lisa Gregoire, and Laurie Sloane in the offensive positions. Robin Sloane also added to the talent by ranking third best pitcher in the league. Returning to the diamond in the ’82 season will be Lisa Gragoire, Kelly Henson, Robin Sloane, Mary Hendricks, and Kim Pellerin. Their 8-6 league record allowed the team to place one notch higher than last year’s fourth place finish. Coach T. Ridolfi had many key players this year who were responsible for much of the action on the field. Among these players were Paul Given, Joe Reddington, Bill O’Brien, Rich Collicci, Rob Hicks, and Rob Vallincourt. Of these six players, three will be returning for play next season. The players worked well together this season which was evident through their 10-8 overall record. Three consecutive shut-outs, with three different pitchers, exhibited the spirit of the men, as they defeated Diman Voke, Holy Fami- ly, and Bourne. The team’s strength and talent was displayed in other games, including their defeat of Holy Family 17-2, and Westport 10-2. “T’ll just slip by when he’s not looking” 148 “T hate warming this bench’ “I think... my pants just ripped’”’ “How many times have I told you...” “Oh, please let me be your ‘Maybe if I don’t look’ friend’ ' WERESHY.”’ “T’ll slap you for that, Ridolfi. . ae x sft te “If you want it that bad, you can have it.” Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Seekonk Baseball 1 1 OrRPNNBPNN OOON FPF FW OO © O.R. This amazing record includes two shut-outs by the Warriorettes as they defeated Bishop Feehan 5-0 and Fairhaven 5-0. Another asto- nishing fact that was evident this year was that Stacey Hess remained undefeated for the second year in a row in her two years of play in the league. Other players who had tremendous seasons were Cornelia Sullivan and Celeste Marchetti. These two girls, along with Stacey Hess, were named to the All State Team. I only have one wish for you, that your biological kids are not as horned out as your kids in school. Because iffa dey are you iza inna bigga trouble. I really want to thank you for being there all those times when I needed you and I hope that I was there for you! Our relationship is definitely one of a kind. How two kids in 2nd grade can end up with a friendship like ours is beyond me. You are a helluva person, caring, understanding, and a WICKED good listener, to put it simply, just a great friend. Although I do remember all of the times you called me names lik an IGNORANT GIT, and a POOP. Itta wasa pritty funny, but I think the one that hurt the most was STUNARD PETTIFUCCINI! Well, this was the easiest way I knew to tell you I Love You. GNANG, GNANG, GNANG, see ya later! P.S. It’s Full! Love Ya Always, Slow-mo a k a Mac Kim Hey Mac (a.k.a. Slow-mo): What can be said to someone who has been a caring, giving, totally honest friend? The grandest vocabulary could not project my true feelings. The mere two words “Thank You’ seem to me the most eloquent, yet thank you is not enough. We’ve had so many experiences that have “enriched our lives”. Do you remember the first time we met? (No, we are not a married couple reminiscing.) Sure ya do. Grade 2. Mrs. Westcott. Boy, were we hellians. Through all the scraped knees and elbows, the tears, the laughter, the joys of accomplishments, the let down of failure, through all of that BUDDEE, we've grown. We’ve grown to be more than friends. We made it. So after all of this sentimental verbage I'll have to tell ya, I Love You ‘cause you're a part of me. (Like an arm?) P.S. No Way! Have a good life. (I'll be with you, maybe not every step of the way but I'll be around.) Pruitt Priscilla My Old Friend I can recall those warm summer days. No decisions. Child’s play. Did they slip away? Gone forever. Gone forever. Lost to yesterday. From the beginning you’ve been always there my old friend. True until the end of time. As I walk down streets full of amber leaves, I see nothing’s really changed at all. We’re just older now. Still together, still together after all these years. From the beginning you’ve been always there my old friend. True until the end of time. From the beginning you’ve been always there my old friend. True until the end of time. R. Page, S. George D.
