Innovation Continues The English Department offers each student skill development in all phases of the language arts pro- ey he department places emphasis on the intel- ectual development and growth of the student by urging the student to draw his own conclusions from une world around him and to always be open to new ideas. The learning process in the English program is sequential, Bach grade level having specific objec- tives. The curriculum is in the process of making revi- . sions in this area which will be completed by the end ne of the 1980-1981 academic year. The new sequence John Walton, A.B. M.A. — English Depart- will be as follows: Grade Nine, Introduction to Liter- ment Chairman, Advanced Placement English, Mini-A, 9-3, Latin I, II ary Types; Grade Ten, Survey of American Litera- ture; Grade Eleven, Survey of British Literature; and Grade Twelve, Survey of World Literature. On the Junior and Senior levels, this sequence replaces the Mini courses that have been offered over the past six years. “T dare you to try cheating Junior Honors English and Senior Advanced Place- ment English will still be offered to those who want to pursue new depths of u intellectual activity. Also, an intensive SAT preparatory program, initiated this year, will again be offered to Juniors and Seniors who will take the PSAT SAT.
