h 1' HL, Q, vfxl IP Ojffxkgr FB INDIVIDUAL PICTURFS OF IFTTERMFN 1 o I A rs stde Trueman L ng L s 6 s y S Howa d dl STARTING FUI lc I Quclilm Once agam for the seventh successtve year Sedro Woolley s powerful Mullen coached Cubs secured the Skagrt County Football Champron shrp and came wrth n one game of wmnmg the Northwest Drstrrct trtle as well The football season of l944 was characterrzed by rapxd and rntensrve playmg wrth most of the games hard fought contests rn whtch the S W team came to the fore prmctpally by v1r tue of better trammg and co ordmatron The season began wrth the September l6 defeat of the Marysvrlle Tomahawks Whrle Sedro Woolley was not rn best playmg form and fumbled several touchdown attempts the Cubs were able to take the ball away from the Tomahawks to end the game w1th a score of 12 O Thls close fought contest was followed by v1ctory over the Arlmgton Eagles Notwlthstand mg the advantage of playmg on therr own freld the Arlmgton boys were powerless to resrst the blue and whlte onslaught and fell beneath the passes of Tony Hadosevlch to the tune of Sl U lohnson Moen and Ayres contrfbuted largely to thrs advance Hadosevrch and Moen were also responsrble for some of the touchdowns by therr lme smashes whrch Just couldnt be topped The Skagrt County league trtle was defmrtely aecrded when the Woolley players downed the Anacortes Seahawks 340 Although the Sea hawks showed some srgn of reslstance they were unable to do anythrng about the relent less Cub drrve and durmg the second half they were battered all over the freld Moen Ayres Xlemo and Radosevrch were responsrble for a good deal of the scormg play rn thrs battle October l3 the Cubs were able to defeat the Mt Vernon Bulldogs by a score of 1812 Thrs game proved to be nowhere near the walk away that had been predrcted Durmg thrs one of the brtterest contests of the season a Woolley fumble gave the green and whrtes therr frrst touchdown and only hard work by the Cubs
