'Y' f' fi V7 LLUB ow lt y N1 l 1 aigil 1 Si Ji os G1 iidspr a .1 Sttztuurcdly Woolley Ctullbs A group of active energetic athletes comprise the boys S W C ub Membership is open to all letter winners in ma or soorts The main innovation of the year introduced by the group was their patrol of th halls Now one may venture into the corriaors dciring the passing of cla ses without fear of his life Student courts were frequently held during the year Culprits were brought to ustice and punishment inflicted in the nature of spats oi a stiff work out on the track At their danc called Smoke House Blues foo foo birds ftitted about occasionally lighting on foo signs and Smoky Stover cartoons added colo Qfficers for the year were Norman Beeman president Frank Wis vice president Al Ltsherness secretary treasurer Art Thompson paddle wielder and C ach Tom Mullen adviser Sports consistently mainta ned a high degree of interest throughout the year beginning with a championship football t am and ending with an unusually fine, track season With a watloptng v owing whale of a victory over Mount Vernon Coach Tom Mullen s Cubs ended their 1937 football season on Turkey day having been undefeated by any other football team in Skagit County A tie game was played with Anacort s in a field of n ud Earlier in the season the Cub lost an exciting gan e to Bellingham Perhaps the most thrilling game playea vias on Arrristice Day with Sedro-Woolleys leading rival Burlington. As the final gun sounaed the Cubs were leading by seven points. Five of the Sedro-Vvoolley players were successful in making the All-County team. These payer were: Fred Silverthorn Ray Gudmunson Art Thompson Dennis Deneen and Al Lisherness. Season letter Winners were: Art Thompson, Dennis Deneen, Al Lisherness, Norman Lisherness, Norman Beeman, Otto Nelson, Marvin Suiter, Ray Gudmunson, Iesse Close, Fred Silverthorn, Bill Kelley, George Ross, Leo Hayes, lack Wardell, Lawrence Hunter, Osville Ellestad, Eddie Vlahovich, Gus Garney, Welly Thompson, Fred Betchart, Roy Duvall, Floyd Cratsenberg, Leonard Anderson, Clarence Latham, lim Becrait. Managers' letters were presented to Frank Shelton and lim Marihugh. Harmon Colby acted as assistant coach and Kenneth Driskill as freshman coach.
