LITER RY What a wonderful day for remxn 1sc1ng a day for Slttlllg before the fireplace gamng xnto flames peopled by all kmds of welrd shapes A log falls and wakens us to reallty The ram st11l pounds on the pane the wmd stlll howls 111 the chlmney Prlscllla Byard 42 THE SIGN OF THE KID One stormy afternoon I decided to x1s1t an old frxend of mme Professor Roberts who had recently returned from hlS stud1es IH Parls because of a nervous breakdown He was 11VlI1g ln an old stone house that stood on a heawlly w ooded penmsula 1utt1ng lnto the Atlantlc The Castle as the townspeople called It was accessible only by a very dlfferent path down the cllffs IH back of the house As I enter ed my frlend was holdmg a curlously shaped stone that looked somethmg hke a skull After a short frlendly talk the Professor passed the obJect to me and asked What can you make of 1t'7 On the stone there was engraved a kld goat An arrow leadlng from thls polnted at the hldeous looklng mouth Accldentally I hit one of the teeth and the laws came apart Inslde there was a map drawn on very old parchment paper On It there were four dlrectlons vxlth a plcture of a kld goat between each one The Professor grabbed the map Y .
