With the first half of the season over, it looks very promising for the Blue Devils, with 5 victories and one loss in the League. We are looking forward to a good second half and the Blackiack League Championship. In the Moline Invitational Tournament, Sedan was seated No. l by defeating Longtan 62-48 and Howard 55-51 . The people that have held out for the A team and will letter are: Larry Knackstedt, Jim Viele, Richard Wells, Richard Long, Mike McGill and King Foster. E B 'Jeam The Blue Devils B Team made a very good showing this season with I2 wins and 2 losses, building up a tradition of winning, which is conducive to championship teams. B Team members will be trying for the positions on the A Team next year, which has been hit very severely with the graduation of 6 seniors, leaving all 5 positions for the B Team to step into next year. With the promising work of some of the B Teams members, they will fill the positions very capably. Five Freshmen ofthe B squad played in the Caney Tournament and took 2nd place by de- feating Caney and losing to Altimont 27-30. Considering the record the basket- ball and football teams made this year, the track team has a great challenge to meet to make the Blue Devils League Champions in all three sports. Some of the possible track meets for the season are: Ottawa, K. U., Fredonia and Elk City relays, the Triangular and Blackjack League meet at Coffeyville, and the Triangular meet at' Caney. Due to the fact that Leon lost a number of trackmen through graduation, it looks as though Sedan will have an opportunity to the Coffeyville Challenge Trophy. The leading contenders in the League will probably by Leon, Elk City and Sedan. This year's edition is the third to bear the name TRIDENT. The name of our yearbook comes from the word trident meaning a three pronged spear as used by the inhabitants of Hades. It has become the policy that the cover color is determined by the colors of the graduating class. We want it to be understood that the TRIDENT is an activity of the school as a whole although the staff is from the Senior Class. The Production staff consists of two Co-Editors, a copy editor and a typist. The Business staff is headed by a Business Manager with five helpers. The Co-Editors, business manager, and copy editor are selected in the spring so they can arrange their schedule of classes in order to have time to handle their TRIDENT assignment. The TRIDENT Advisors are Mr. E. E. Lowe and Mr. Charles W. Conklin, Jr. Mr. Lowe supervises the financial part and Mr. Conklin is in charge of the production. This page is sponsored by STOC K'S 8.
