Nusz, G Zfweezfadf We got off to a slow start, losing to Elkton, Pigeon, and Harbor Beach during the first half of the season. Win- ning the remaining games of the season, we fought an uphill battle to gain the co- championship of the N. T. C. C. In the district tournament held on our own home court, our Indians con- tinued their winning ways. Their ex- cellent tournament play was topped by a resounding defeat to the Elkton Elks 88-33, setting a new school record of 88 points for a Sebewaing High basket- ball team. This sent them to Saginaw for the regional play-offs at Arthur Hill High School. In their first encounter at Saginaw, the Indians scalped Decker- ville 57-30. In their second encounter they massacred Bay City St. James 87-48. In the final regional game, the Indians fought an uphill battle to over- come a half time deficit of nine points with highly rated Saginaw SS. Peter and Paul but failed by one point when SS. Peter and Paul stalled to a 60-59 vic- tory. Harry Schumacher was placed on the Saginaw All Area and All Confer- ence Teams and also broke individual scoring record for Sebewaing by scor- ing 40 points in the Lutheran Semin- ary game. Coach Pat Welch began his first year of coaching at Sebewaing with a successful season. Sebewaing was running to Elkton for the N. T. C. C. championship. The season started with a victory over Bay City Central Reserves. Even though Sebewaing scored the first touch- down against Elkton, the champions, the Indians weakened in the third quarter to permit the Elks to win the game. The Pigeon game was played in a torrential downpour with the field com- pletely covered with water. Our web- foot boys swam to a 33 to 0 victory. The climax of the season was the game with our arch-rivals--Union- ville. Although we scored the first T. D. and extra point and Eagles tied up the game. When the final whistle blew the score was still 7-7. We finished the season by battering Ubly and Bay City Handy Reserves. SCHEDULE Sebewaing 7 B.C.
