FirsT day Troubled sailing a deep Tog impairsour vision. Lee Gamble, Bobo Kirch and Bunker Markey chosen by members oT The crew as capTains oT The Three classes. NavigaTors chosen were Messrs. Hurley, Harris and Brady. S.J. SporTs Took up mosT oT The crew s spare Time, giving Moyer and Carroll leTTers in boxing and baseball, respecTively The ship ran inTo a good many squalls, especially aroundgam Time waves oT ignorance sweeping The deck. A Tew oT The crew Took To The liTeboaTs buT were swamped by Tidal waves oT LaTin and Algebra. EnTire crew very happy aT TirsT shore leave oT Three monThs. -MosT oT The old crew reporTed Tor anoTher hiTch: a Tew new members also came aboard. l-lad a liTTle sTormy weaTher The TirsT Tew days ouT again buT The crew sTood iT nicely. Newly elecTed capTains Carroll, Pauly and Shasky showed us some nice leadership. aided by The new navigaTors, Mr Rebhahn and Mr. Seaver, S.J., and our old Triend, Mr. Coen. Parchem, Small and Mc Donough each goT The TirsT oT Their Three sTripes This voyage, and were duly iniTiaTed inTo The LeTTermen's Club. IT was on This Trip ThaT Bernie Winch was suddenly Taken Trom us by The Commander-in-ChieT oT us all, leaving an unT1ll able gap in our ranks. Seamen Hurley and Spellman showed promise oT speak ers To come in The debaTe club oT 42. Like a painTed ship on a painTed ocean, sea very calm. No wind in our sails Tor The TirsT Tew weeks ouT. Lone survivor oT a SouThern Shipwreck hoisTed aboard, name oT CacTus McDonald. McDonough, Kirch and Carroll were The crew's choices To Till The capTaincies, Mr. DiemerT, S.J., doing mosT oT The navigaTing. MosT oT The year's enTerTainmenT was had in The English classes oT our moderaTor: he was very cooperaTive. LeTTermen's Club was becoming overcrowded wiTh The crew's aThleTes. The salTs oT 44 were given a bang up send-oTT aT The highly successTul iunior prom. AnoTher shore leave came around beTore we could realize iT. g Sailing Tor home porT again aTTer Three years adriTT. LeTTermen galore.
