Practice began at the start of fall quarter. They continued into the spring after the end of the season. working new skills for the coming year. The girls' major problem, as far as team competition, stems from the fact that only four girls compete in the allround competition and all four scores must count toward the team's score. Nevertheless, Coach Tindall expressed high hopes that three of the all-around competitors would qualify for nationals. SPU competes against the regional Division ll teams and several schools in Division I. including Boise State, 4th at nationals the previous year and University of Oregon, a top Division I team. High points of the season included the regional competition held at SPU and Division ll nationals held at the college of William and Mary in Williamsburg Virginia. There is a lot of practice that goes into each cheer and routine. Many times they are out there yelling their heads off until they pass out from exhaustion. Well, maybe not quite that bad, but next time you see the cheerleaders out there trying to get the fans involved, feel free to give a helping holler.
